How to stop snow from sticking to the shovel?
Does anyone know a trick to prevent snow from sticking to the snow shovel? I tried oil, that didn't work.

I use car wax on it. That would probably be the longest lasting treatment of all & usually does last me all winter (and I live in central MN so the snow season is december thru the end of march).

I inadvertently found the answer to your very question the other day. I poured rock salt onto my shovel so I wouldn't have to carry a 40 lb bag along with me when I spread the salt. After spreading, then shoveling some more, when I was done I noticed there was absolutely no snow on my shovel. So there ya go!

Keep the shovel in the cold. Warm metal tends to make the snow stick to it.

Spraying any one of the following on the snow shovel will help: WD-40, Silicone lubricant, fan-belt lubricant, or PAM cooking spray.
The cooking spray works the best, as it "clings" to the shovel the longest; but any of the sprays will have to be re-done.
If you are willing to pay a little extra for a snow shovel, they make them with a Teflon coating. That works great.

Come to Los Angeles. Snow never sticks to my shovel.

Leave the shovel in the cold so it will not melt the snow and get sticky.
The wax sounds like a good idea too.
