Why are people offended by someone saying Merry Christmas?

    obviously because they think you should say happy holidays since they dont celebrate Christmas. I'm deeply against that though. I wouldn't care if some said happy Hanukkah to me. and anyway if you celebrate Christmas and you say merry Christmas to some one like seriously...its not bad. I don't know i just htink its kind of stupid to get offended by it. I've noticed it too though... a lot

    I never noticed that people were offended by someone saying Merry Christmas. But maybe it was the way you said it. Or maybe the people you saw are from another religion and don't celebrate Christmas. Who knows.

    Not everyone is a Christian. Saying Merry Christmas really offends many people who are never Christians.

    It's like wishing someone a "Happy Chinese New Year" when this someone is not Chinese

    or

    Saying "Mazel tov" to someone who's not Jewish near Rosh Hashanah.

    They might not believe in celebrating Christmas because of their religion. Examples: Muslim, Hindu, Buddhist
