Was Jesus Pro- or Anti-War?
Mahmoud Ahmadinejad recently claimed that:
"If Christ were on earth today, undoubtedly he would hoist the banner of justice and love for humanity to oppose warmongers, occupiers, terrorists and bullies the world over,"
Is this consistent with the biblical Jesus? Was he pro-war or pro-peace? Did he support or oppose occupations? Did he side with states that acted like terrorists and bullies or against them?

Jesus told Peter, "Those who live by the sword will die by the sword". Jesus told him this after Peter cut off the ear of the Roman soldier in defense (so he thought) of Jesus being arrested. So Jesus was certainly not for people killing people.

Hallo
I’m a Lutheran from Brazil, so I’ll give you my view …
This is the old saying: “Novum in Vetere latet et in Novo Vetus patet” or “The New is in the Old concealed, and the Old is in the New revealed” or else it’s the war between law and gospel!
The substitutionary atonement of Chist stating that he died intentionally on the cross as a propitiation for all sinners made the penance for sins go away, thus we won’t have to be pennants any longer. We are now under the mantle of grace, no war is required any longer. The law asked in the old or even in the new testament were fulfilled … no more sanction are required …
War is a sanction to the humanity, but behold that god Sabaoth had now become, after Jesus sacrifice, pure love, perfect fraternal love (Deus Charitas est), thus war is no longer a solution , not any longer …
Veritas immutabilis est, et perpétua.
Sola fide, sola gratia, sola scriptura, solo Christo, soli Deo gloria.

Jesus is all for peace.....He encourages it, and promotes it at every opportunity.
Yet, He promises to come back with a sword.....His returning mission will be to divide and conquer.
Jesus IS willing to give peace a chance..........but IF it doesn't work...............may you be on the side of God!

Read the sermon on the mount, the way the biblical jesus was described, in modern terms he would be the most liberal, granola, bleeding-heart hippy you can imagine.

He left us as the Lamb of God for our sake, He returns as the Lion of God, and every knee will bow, and accept He is Christ, and submit to Him, so He is both.

Well he did say 'He who lives by the sword shall die by the sword". So I'm guessing anti but not too sure.

Seeing as 'he came with a sword' I'd have to say 'Pro-War'.
