Where is the best place online (or in person) to get cheap/discounted Disney and Universal Studios theme park tickets for Florida on short notice?

You best bet for Universal would be to buy them on-line and pick them up at the gate if that is an option. Often times there are discounts when purchasing them on-line.
As for Disney, you are not likely to find significantly discounted tickets. Disney does not reduce their ticket prices, only their hotels fluctuate with the seasons. You might be able to get slightly reduced tickets from a travel agent or AAA, but use caution if you find any other site offering "discount" tickets. Tickets expire after 14 days from their first use. So, you don't want to get tricked into buying someone's "unused" days, because by the time you get them and get to the park they may be expired. You also run the risk of getting caught with tickets that aren't yours. When you insert your tickets into the machine, you have to stick two fingers in as well for a finger scan. If it pops up the tickets aren't yours you risk being turned away.

Well the cheapest place to get tickets is online. They would have to deliver them though so that's not the best way for you. Do you live in Orlando? If you do, you can go to places on the side of the road. There are many on the 192 or on International Drive. Also you can get tickets from Wal-Mart now. The cheapest website that I have found is the one below. If you want to visit lots of theme parks I would recommend the Orlando Flexi-Ticket because you get entry to both Universal parks, Sea World, Aquatica and Wet 'n Wild. Also you would need at least 5 days in Disney one day for each park and then maybe a waterpark. Blizzard Beach is alot better than Typhoon Lagoon. Hope you have a good time! Orlando is amazing!
