Do you like dryer balls?

I got dryer balls for a Christmas gift. (yes, it's weird gift, but that's not my question) They are small spiky blue balls. They look like if you magnified a virus a million-trillion times. My concern 1) do they work? 2) do they damage my dryer?

I got a couple to fluff up my towels. I have used them for about one year with no noticeable change. The dryer seems no worse although you do hear them bouncing around as it dries. I avoided using them on anything good as it seems they would wear out clothes faster.

yes they work, no they don't damage your dryer, why would something that is specifically designed for a dryer damage a dryer?

they are good for fluffing up things like duvets that's all, they break up feather lumps in duvets to help them dry. tennis balls do the same.
