Ok, there are three types of TV...

Theres the plasma, LCD and Rear Projection.

All three have pros and cons, Youd have to base your decision on which one suits you best.

The plasma is reasonably good but uses older technology and Its a bit cheaper than and LCD.

The LCD has an excellent quality picture, its newer technology than a plasma but more expensive.

Then theres the rear projection TV. If you want a really big picture then get that but you need to have a big wall and a room thats dark, and the quality of the picture isnt very crisp.

    Hope that info helps :)

Plasma has a better visual picture but after a while, pictures start burning into the screen permanantly, especially if you leave it on for a long time (over 10 hours), whereas LCD still has a prestine picture but not as vivid as plasma, but LCD completely dies out after about 10-11 years.

Read this professional tutorial and you will have a complete answer rather than the subjective, moronic, and/or half-assed answers you've received to date. MOST TV sales people have little true technical knowledge.

it depends on where you live i live in colorado and due to the high altitude plasma t.v.s give out quicker but they do have better picture quality than an l.c.d
