Does it do any good to stain/seal our side of the fence if the neighbors don't stain/seal theirs?
Update:
Aesthetics aside, will it make the fence last as long if its only being maintained on one side?

The truth is, your fence will rot off at the posts before the boards you're worried about will fail. I say, finish it however you like. It makes no difference to overall fence longevity.

sure , it will keep your side of the fence looking nice...i have never seen a fence that was owned by both parties...
