Spiritually speaking, why can't God bless Christianity with better music?

I can't imagine how horrible Heaven would be like if all you guys had to listen to was Hawk Nelson and Faith Plus 1...

...The music in Hell would be pretty sweet :D

Update:

As I Lay Dying are just jumping on the Metal Christian bandwagon. They're not Christian in any way, trust me, I've seen them live and met them.

Obviously they do it to appeal with the majority of Christians who will like them more when they're labeled "Christian".

My church uses classical music. To me, it just doesn't get much better than Mozart, Handel, Mendelssohn, Bach, Haydn and the other classical composers. If you're referring to the "Christian rock" genre, it sounds more like watered-down pop to me, and I don't like it, either. If other people enjoy it, more power to them, but it's just not my cup of tea.

  • Who's Hawk Nelson and Faith Plus 1? Never heard of 'em.

And some of the most beautiful music around is religious. Ave Maria, anyone?

The problem with a lot of Christian "bands" is that they focus more on their lyrics than their music. But there are some pretty good Christian bands out there. I like Skillet, Petra, Decyfer Down, and Thrice.

I think there's a ton of variety in Christian music and I think any kind of music that makes you happy also spiritually enlightens you...SO i think you just need to look more widely at christian music. For example Jesus walks by Kanye West can be considered a christian song even though he's not a "christian artist"

You don't know what you are talking about. Find KLOVE radio and listen for 1 hour. It ain't grandma's christian music. It talks about love like you have never heard before. Hmmmmm isn't it odd that I CAN ONLY IMAGINE---was a crossover hit on national radio for the longest time----and it IS Christian music.

Gotta get yourself one of them thar fm radios hon. It does wonders with the sound too. Mandesa, Michael W. Smith, Steven Curtis Chapman, Matt Redman, Chris Rice, etc. etc.

    Happy New Year.

that is such a blasphemous statement. I am catholic but there is not much difference between both religions. Christians are normal people and listen to regular music. They may not listen to music that degrades the human race like others may not be able to live without but that is their choice. If you think the music is so terrible then go ahead and do something about it. It wasnt made for your approval.

Good music is defined by its emotional impact and the strict guidelines of Christianity don't allow for exploration of new and unknown things. But i think over time it may get better, rock and roll was "the devils music" to many Christians, now many like it. I just think the church is always slow to change.

    POD is a christian band

listen to the song Youth of the Nation

    its a really good song

and try and expand on your research a little more there are so many good christian bands out there

  • Yes - I agree. I was subjected to a terrible song while shopping for old records in a thrift store a couple weeks back. It sounded like one of those 1980's 4-part harmony insurance jingles, with cheesy horns, repeating over and over "Worship Jeee-Heee-sus!"

It drove me out of the store laughing.

    And I'm christian.
