So, for christians, who among you believes Harry Potter ought to be banned or restricted?
I ask this because, if that's so, then you also need to write Nick at Night and get Bewitched banned, also. Your thoughts?
Kira - there is no "I suppose" clause in free speech laws.

Yes. We should also ban Cinderella, Chronicles of Narnia, Snow White, Sleeping Beauty, Sabrina the Teenage Witch... and of course Bewitched.
I'm a Christian, and I LOVE Harry Potter! :)

As a Christian I have not read the books---nor have I seen the movies. But I would not try to ban books. That leads down a slippery slope that may one day lead to the banning of religious material and bibles. I choose to change the channel when something objectionable comes on television. My attitudes are such that my faith is ground firmly in the word. I don't need governments to interfere with the practice of my faith. Low ratings will get a show pulled faster than letters of protest.

Heck, i'm going to do it for $20 and a shot of Baileys. you're unlikely to discover an superior grant than that! Wait....I might desire to completely have confidence it? How approximately I in basic terms drag in a guy named Harry Potter and have confidence he's genuine? Or how some potter in drag named Harry? ((((Dreamstuff)))

I have read all the books and saw all the movies thus far. To me, it doesn't differ to much from the C.S. Lewis series. Still witch craft, etc., involved. NOTE - both also involve making choices between good and evil. Both make a choice for good, not evil.
ANY book can hurt you if you become consumed with it. It is a matter of understanding these are books - fiction - not real - just a story. If you let it consume you and start thinking it is real - you can hurt yourself - but this can be said with even romance novels for example. It is a matter of staying in reality. Enjoy a good book that is fiction - nothing wrong with it!

Well, banning it would, I suppose, be a violation of Free Speech, but I believe parents and children should make better personal choices about what they fill their heads with. Just don't BUY the books, don't read them. Don't watch questionable TV shows. If your teacher is making the whole class read Harry Potter, have a talk with her and the principal and have them give your child an alternate assignment.

it's called freedom of speech. Don't like it? Don't watch Bewitched and don't read Harry Potter. Simple as that.

I really liked Harry Potter, it is not so bad to escape into a fantasy world for a few hours, and my kids understand that it is only a movie.

Christians last time I checked were allowed to have an imagination. I was named after one of the witches on Bewitched and I dont worship satan.

I dont think Harry Potter should be banned/restricted. The only Christians that do think so are the uptight, close-minded ones.
