Sorry for the long answer but this takes some necessary explaining:
There are at least two reasons I can think of why you are seeing this with your TV. Reason #1: it could be something called "shutdown". You see, most TVs these days have an automatic protection feature built into the circuitry; this feature automatically shuts down the entire set when an abnormal or dangerous condition has happened with the electronics inside your TV. This is done to prevent any further damage from happening to your TV and can happen for any number of reasons.
Reason #2: this could also be happening due to something called "thermal failure". If you were to take a look at the circuitry inside your TV you would see that all that electronic components are connected to the board (and each other) by solder joints. As with any metal, solder will expand and contract with temperature changes (i.e., it gets warmer when electricity is running through it and gets cooler when powered off). All this expanding and contracting will eventually create metal fatigue in those solder joints. The fatigue won't be extremely obvious to the naked eye but, if you were to use a magnifying glass, you probably see very tiny hairline fractures in some of these joints. They won't look very big but are often just enough to get in the way of electrical flow throughout the circuit board. This may explain why the TV only runs for a few minute before cutting off; the cracks in the solder joints may be heating up and expanding to the point where electricity flow is being impeded throughout that circuit.
In either case, unless you have experience in electronic repair, I'd suggest taking your TV to a repair shop first. You have to pay them a small fee (and it really is a small fee, something like $30-$40) to take a look at what's wrong. Once they find out the real cause of your issue they will give you an repair estimate (usually, they will also apply what you already paid to the cost of getting it fixed). If you agree with the estimate then they will start the repair; if not then you are not charged anything more.
Get the estimate first; it might just save you from having to spend a few hundred dollars (or more) which you didn't need to spend after all.

1. Saturday baseball on TV 2. Keep the DH. Why have an automatic out? Make the pitcher work. 3. Good music on the sound system before baseball games 4. The train going by Safeco Field 5. Popcorn at the game Things to change: 1. The Tigers always win, no matter what the score is. 2. More Interleague games. Have 15 teams in each league so there will always be an interleague game and each team would play 45 interleague games--Three against each team. 3. More day games on Saturday 4. A team from Detroit in the National League to complement the Tigers. 5. Everything is radar--the player's uniforms, balls, bats, bases, etc. so that the umpires will never make a mistake. We might not even need umpires.
