Do you interject religion into everyday life while you are around others, who may not be of your religion?

I was around my relatives who are very religious Lutherans and religious topics often come up . They often seem to have a negative view of other religions, especially my grandmother. I try to not talk at all so I won't offend them (but I dont see how one religion can be more correct than another). Also it really annoys me when people give credit to God for something they accomplished because it really makes no sense (but thats just a little side-note rant). Just curious on your feelings and also wondering if you subscribe to a particular religion.

I'm Muslim and I do interject my beliefs if questions are asked; but if not I just let them SEE what Islam is...example my neighbor is a Christian woman who is older and in poor health. She is lonely and I sit with her, sometimes. I take her to the store or doctor. Lastnight at 2 am I took her to a hospital 40 miles away because she felt more comfortable going there than to the one in our town. Sometimes she asks me things and sometimes she doesn't. But she sees the beauty of Islam in my kindness to her and others. She says if she had time to learn Islam she'd be Muslim,I tell her everyday that it's the heart that counts. We smile and know that God is real.

I act as a Christian. Apparently, people notice it, because without inappropriate jokes, swearing or not caring, I have more people who like me than I thought I would... or atleast I think I do.

Well, doesn't really annoy me that people give God credit. God created us. If He helped us in any way, or allowed us to do something grand, then there's reason for praise.

Religious Truth... touchy subject. Let's put it this way. If you were in a place where a man openly beats his children as punishment and you do not condone this violence, are you right for telling him to stop? Who are you to tell him? See, when religious, we think that we have a right, and a duty, to preach our religion, just as you'd confront this man because you seem to have a duty to protect his children. We think that our way is right because it makes sense to us. It's what we believe. Sometimes we try to disprove people wrongly though (like how your relative view other religions, and discuss their negative attitudes), like if you were to kill the man that beats his children.

Or is that wrong? What is wrong and what is right? Is one religion more right than the other? The answer? It's what you believe it to be.

I do by example but your question sounds like your relatives throw religion into everybody's face if they want to hear it or not. Jesus said something about that in Matthew 7:6.

No. I just live my life and if they ask me about my faith I am more than happy to tell them what I believe. Once in a while a topic will come up, like abortion, and since I am a Christian and pro-life that usually follows. But normally...no.

the loud, outspoken, overzealous religious person who doesn't tolerate differing opinions or ideologies. it's almost a stereotype now. i've found these types to be the most hypocritical... they seem to only use religion because it feeds their sense of self-righteousness. they enjoy being up there dispensing wisdom to the poor masses.

Action speaks louder than words. I just practice the commandment of love and that is all I need to do. God will do the rest.

  • If your serious about your religion it's hard to hide it. You know the whole let your light shine thing.

mass religion is senseless drivel, god should be given credit for all things good, we are nothing without him. Perhaps remind your family I am sure God does not approve of them judging grandma.

now and then the bottles come clattering out of the closet....
