    It's a 250, with only 15.8bhp??

Look at it this way - a learner's 125 is restricted to 14.6bhp and weighs a lot less.

You will get overtaken by guys with 'L' plates if you buy that bike.

Nothing you can do to it will make it faster - buy a different bike instead...

    Probably Around 60Mph.

Depends On Gradient Of Road Surface, Condition Of Engine And Rider Weight And If The Engine Would Cope And Last Long Enough To Get To 60!!!

It is Near Impossible To Tell With Just Statistics Like These. Yhoo Can't Tell Top Speed From Power Figures Either!!

A Performance Exhaust Will Make It Faster!! As Will A Performance Air Filter. Changing The Teeth On The Sprocket Will. If I Remember Yhoo'll Go Faster If Yhoo; -1 Tooth Off The Rear Sprocket And +1 Tooth On The Front Sprocket. JUST DONT MODIFY IT, IF IT HAS A CHINESE NAME AND IS A CHINESE MADE BIKE!!! THE ENGINE CAN'T COPE WITH THE EXTRA POWER!!!

Plus That Power Figure Is Tiny. Are Yhoo Sure Tis A 250cc Bike?? And Not A 125cc Bike??

    Safe Riding. Happy New Year...Nearly

Of course it has sprockets, even wheels with drum brakes need sprockets to drive them.

But that is low output to start with, the Kawasaki Ninja 250 claims twice the power of that engine with less than twice the weight (and that is not a powerful engine by any means), by changing the sprocket for top speed you will sacrifice acceleration, which would be sluggish to begin with.

Walk away and look at a more powerful 250 (or a 2-stroke 125, see link) to begin with, that way you will not have to concern yourself with uprating the brakes which are designed to deal with the current output – it can be fairly cheap to get more top speed from an engine by changing the sprockets but to improve the braking system to cope with that is a different, more expensive, problem. Having said that almost all of your braking is done at the front end and it seems unlikely that 16bhp could overwhelm a twin disc setup.

Pathetic and really not worth buying. I had a 1990 Honda NS125R that made a genuine 28bhp!

A four stroke 250 should comfortably make around 45bhp, a two stroke would make about 60bhp.

BHP makes a huge difference in how a bike can cope with hills, overtaking etc and how hard the engine has to work to maintain speed etc.

I'd forget the one your looking at and go for a good used Japanese 400cc minimum.

he makes a very good point.

the weight is also very low, indicative of low quality construction.

in addition the engine puts out very little power even for a four stroke 250.

Don't know where your getting this from but I would not go through with it, seems like a real hunk.

as far as speed goes the bike weighs 243lbs (lets hope thats dry weight) so with you and the oil it'll weigh 500lbs. Being driven by 16hp I would say you could go about 45-50 tops with that amount of power.

put it this way my bike makes around 160hp at the wheels (I'm assuming that 15.8 is at the wheels, if it's at the engine you've got more problems) and it weighs around 650 with me on it, and has a top speed of around 180mph. So if you were to ratio the power/weights and then use my top speed to get your top speed out given the difference in our power/weight ratios. I'm too tired and lazy to do it right now, but you could do it, it wouldn't be too accurate.

and yes, you can change the sprockets to improve acceleration or top speed, I did that to mine last summer, but that might be kind of useless here.

basically sounds like a real bad deal, if your looking for speed look away from anything with 250 in the name

Thats one slow bike with those specs & I couldnt agree more with the statement "chinese bike are crap"!! U want a fast 250cc?.. Get yourself the bike I'v got Aprilia RS250 2-stroke. Mine's highly modified & out accelerates much bigger bikes. Even when standard the RS250 is a rocket.

Stay away from Chinese bikes & buy Japanese quality or Italian. Also dont worry about top speed, focus more on acceleration up2 140kph. Top speed will just kill you faster and we dont want that. :D

Let me guess, cheap Chinese bike? DON'T BUY IT. You'lll be lucky to hit 60 mph, and you'lll breakdown before you can get there..

Why is top speed a priority? What about comfort? Maybe, you should reorganize your priorities if fast is all you want to do.

Oh, and yes sprockets, but this bike shouldn't have any, cause its got a DRUM REAR BRAKE! That means it CHEAP!

You will be extreamly happy with KTM. Yet parts are 1% higher than Honda. Power seems pretty identical.
