Can a razor damage painted surfaces?

We use a special razor tool to scrape cooked on food off our flat-top stove. My wife wants to use the razor to scrape dried spills off the painted metal edges of the stove. Could this damage the paint? Would you do it?

Yes, it could damage the paint. I would get a bottle of Krud Kutter cleaner from Lowes and use it to clean the metal edges, and it would probably make the stove top easier to clean too.
