Why do you think women need to needlessly pamper themselves?

I never did understand why women spend so much money on needless things.  Now I know that a man can be just as guilty but really it's the endless facials, manicures, pedicures, massages, hair coloring, waxing, tinting, glossing, etc, you name it that I really just don't get.  It just seems like a huge waste of money to me for little benefit.  Can’t you paint your own nails?  What’s wrong with living with the beauty that God naturally gave you?  Don’t even get me started on lifts, tucks, or anything like Botox, which I completely disagree with unless it’s for medical reasons which there are a few but VERY few that I would deem acceptable for any change surgically to your body.  The other question I have it how do you get in to this crap in the first place?  My mom had three girls her Mom had three girls and we never got in to this.  Now I will admit I am one of two that don't where any makeup but even for the women in my family that do where makeup it's very little, like lipstick and maybe mascara but no blush, foundation or any of the other things that make makeup such a huge expense.

It all depends on what you count as 'needless.' I say if it makes you feel good about yourself to go out and get a manicure once in a while, do it. As long as you aren't going into debt to buy these type of things and you aren't overly obsessed with your appearance, I don't see the problem. It's a good stress reliever for me personally. On a side note, I can't paint my nails myself. At least not every well. =p They always end up uneven and the polish peels too easily.

Wow, I wish someone had told me I was getting facials, manicures, pedicures, massages, hair colouring, waxing, tinging, glossing, and etc. Only SOME women get all those, and only SOME spend a huge amount on their makeup. Please don't generalize. Now the real reason is, my guess would be, media. We're always getting told "If you don't look like this, you're ugly!" "If you don't have this mascara, you're ugly!" Yes, it's stupid, but a lot of women fall for it. Humans are impressionable, male or female. Get told something enough times, and you start to believe it's true.

probably because they feel pressured by hollywood. Young ladies look up to actresses and models and want to look like them. Or maybe they feel that they are ugly and need these things to look pretty. Insecurity? I agree it's a complete waste of money, because the guys that you are trying to impress will see you without makeup on someday anyway. lol. I personally only wear eyeliner, that's it. and im always getting complements on my good skin and how pretty i am, and i wear no makeup at all. I just have a huge smile and a friendly persona that people like. I know i'm not gorgeous, but people really aren't that shallow, and love friendly smiley people :]

Not all women do THAT much pampering. I sure don't. But the reason is because we need to look good. Emphasis on the 'need'. We do some of that to impress you, men! Haha. Mostly the rich women do that junk, though. 
And maybe some women don't like what God gave them, making them self-conscious. (Which most teenage girls go through.) :D

i really hav no clue. not all women are like that. Im a chick and my mom MADE me get a facial once... i dont even paint my nails and i would NEVER think about surgery. i dont understand... but what my theory is that a lot of women are really emotional and they get to where their self esteem is very low so they do things to make them feel better about themselves. 

but okay... i am guilty of buying tons of body sprays and bath gels if i see a good sale. lol. they smell so good :) i think i will buy pretty much anything as long as its a really good sale lol
