i have really bad skin, and have tried almost everything out there, is there anything anyone can suggest?
i have skin that is very difficult- in the summers it is super oily and it the winter it gets super dry so i don't know exactly what kind of skin i have which doesn't help when im looking for products.
i have acne, and i have tried everything from prescriptions to neutrogena and proactive to the over the counter soaps, and spot treatments. I've always had bad skin, and i found that products with benzol peroxide help but im allergic to them and get all swollen and red, if anyone can suggest anything it will be greatly appreciated.
*i also heard eating certain things can make your acne worse, does anyone know anything about this? and if so do you know what to say away from and what might be better for your skin.

everything comes down to diet.
i've never had terrible acne, but every once in a while i did have some problem spots.
here are some things you SHOULDNT eat:
- ***dairy products*** this is a HUGE one. it helped me a ton. if you cant do the rest of these, do this one. its working great for me & i know people who it has worked for. its a miracle!
- processed foods. basically anything that comes packaged. (pop-tarts, cereal, popcorn, bagles, bread, etc)
- *sugar* this is also a big one, but not as important as dairy. its fuel for those pimples! try cutting back. soon you'll realize you dont even crave sugary things any more!! it makes life a whole lot easier!
wash your face in the morning and at night with special face wash.
as for the benzoyl peroxide, my face used to turn very red, yntil i found out i was using too much. only use a pea-sized amount for your entire face. if you still get the reaction, stop using it.
before bed, put a little something on your skin.
you wont see results right away, but just be patient. stay away from dairy! i know how you feel.
good luck!!

i saw a tv show where doctors talk about embarrising conditions and they said the only thing in a persons diet that can cause spots is milk
not fast food. sure if you eat pizza and then touch your face with greasy hands that wont help.
if your skin is that bad the doctor can prescribe a spot cream that is stronger than anything over the counter
EDIT i know the thumbs down came from the 'you are what you eat' girls but who will you believe? them or a doctor?

YOU ARE WHAT YOU EAT
It is that simple.
Adding chemical toxins to your skin in the form of cleaners, moisturisers, prescriptions, proactives, over the counter soaps, spot treatments, peroxides, alcohols, etc…would only add to your problems and negatively affect your skin and health long term.
A daily diet that consists of lots of fresh, raw (if possible - certified organic) fruit and vegetables, and plenty of pure fresh water and fresh raw vegetable juices, will clear your skin up in no time at all.
Nutritionist Gillian McKeith has a TV show in the USA, UK & Australia called “You Are What You Eat”. And although this show deals mainly with weight loss issues, it also shows how people’s skin clears up once they change to a healthy diet.

So my advice (from years of trial and error and experience) is to avoid things that are known to clog up the pores and over-burden your liver:
Red meats
Processed sliced meat
Dairy
Soy
Processed Flours
Deep fried foods
Trans fat and oils
Refined Sugars
Artificial Sweeteners
Sodas
Frozen microwave food
Pre-packaged foods
Other nutritionally dead foods
Commercial sweets - stick to good quality dark organic chocolate instead.
And so on.........
Pure chocolate itself (cacao) is not bad for your skin. But all the artificial flavours, refined sugars, GMO soy lecithin, milk powders and other crap they put in cheap commercial chocolate is bad for your skin.
Also manage your stress levels and get outside in the fresh air and natural sunlight, as artificial lights, air conditioning and heaters are drying for the skin.
Sandra Cabot also has some excellent information with her liver cleansing principles:
I also highly recommend juicing for clearing skin. Try Sandra Cabots book “Raw Juices Can Save Your Life”.
Another good website is: http://www.notmilk.com/
Since changing my diet from SAD (Standard American Diet) to a Raw Vegan lifestyle and adding juicing on an everyday basis, my skin is now fresh, clear, smooth and literally glowing with health.
And the only thing I use on it for cleaning, cleansing and moisturising, is 100% pure Jojoba oil.
YOU ARE WHAT YOU EAT..................there are no two ways about it.
And sorry but anyone (including doctors - who after all, are in the business of making money by selling you drugs) who say anything different are (in my opinion) wrong.
In society today, people just don’t want to make the effort and take responsibility for their own health and healing. They just want to doctor to “cure” them with a quick fix magic pill or potion. Sadly it does not work that way and it will catch up with your eventually.
Medication adds toxins to your body. Pure fresh healthy food does not.
Good luck.
EDIT:
Peanut - I have NOT given you or anyone else on this page a thumbs down.
I don't normally give a thumbs down to Yahoo answers because I feel it is a petty negative thing to do, when someone has taken time and effort to answer a question.
I prefer a positive uplifting outlook on life and prefer to give thumbs up (where warranted) instead.

I'd give Acnetix a shot. It's helped my skin a bunch. No benzoyl peroxide.

it won't matter what you eat! for example, chocolate ISN'T bad for your skin unless you rub it on your face or something. i've always had good luck with neutrogena stress control with microbeads, but thats just me. i would reccomend a facial clenser with scrub and preferably with a light medication, but not necessarily over the counter.
hope that helped
