How come Jesus healed blind, lepers etc but never heal mental disorders? How come Schizophrenia, Turrettes, et?
How come Jesus didn't heal any one with Schizophrenia or Turrettes Syndrome? Or at least clinical depression? According to the bible he only healed diseases a few diseases people already know about?
Jesus according to the bible said and referred to demons. Why didn't he instead say 'balance your seratonin!' ?

Jesus healed everyone at times. And other times some of the people. Depending on faith.
And yes, at times He healed all oppressed by the devil.
And Jesus heals people today of these also. I have heard personally from people.
Also, I had a mental breakdown back late 1990-1991, & I didn't get healed from this until I went forward at the River of Life & the Pastor prayed for me. And the Lord healed me. First a witch spirit left me for good, then I recommitted to Christ, then I was overfilled with the Holy Spirit & that was the healing. Really that was when I could sleep again. And sleep itself does wonders. After that I went to Church much & renewed my mind in Gods Word & in Gods Spirit. I asked God much & received many answers as the Holy Spirit led me into His Word.

Jesus' second miracle was healing a sick boy, not even in the vicinity of him. His dad was. ~John 4: 43-54.
The Bible account does not say what his illness was. No specifics, as to what's wrong with the child. The father, said: "before he dies."
~~More Miracles in Capernaum.~~
After freeing a demonized man outside the synagogue in Capernaum. The people were amazed, as word spread in all the country round about. The people began bringing all those who were ill and those demon possessed. The whole city was gathered right at the door. He cured many that were ill
~ with various sicknesses.~ Mark 1:21-34.
~ various diseases.~ Luke 4:31-41. (40)
This does not specify, the illnesses. Just tells us that everyone in the city was coming there, and being healed. Jesus performs miraculous healings. In the same way Moses, centuries before, performed miracles to establish his credentials as God's servant.
There is so very much, more.
So to say that Jesus
"only healed a few diseases people already knew about";
is not exactly, an accurate statement.
Note also, the Scriptures provided by
"Bluerose guided by Ps 83:18,"
and "FOX FIRE."
Tourettes Syndrome is not a mental disease.
And to your comment about "balancing your seratonin."
That's not even funny.
Almost five years ago, the Doc and I tried that.
I still have the side-effects from the meds.
Four years after ' I stopped' taking them.
I stick with my vitamins; no thank you, Doc.

He did heal those with epilepsy.
Luke, who was a doctor, makes a distinction in his Gospel of epilepsy symptoms that were really a demon faking epilepsy and true epilepsy.
And Jesus healed both.
Jesus did heal a man with a withered hand in the center of a synagogue meeting.
And several times the Bible states that before he began his teaching in a group, that he would heal ALL their sicknesses, so they could give their undivided attention to what he had to say.
There is an interesting account about King David, who found himself in enemy territory. And he needed to find a way to be let loose to save his life. The Bible account shows that he acted "insane" and was freed.
So they were aware of mental disorders in Bible times. Otherwise how could David mimic some symptoms so convincingly?

I have met a possessed man, and he very much did not demonstrate the same characteristics as the mentally ill. It was a wide chasm, as he knew things he should not and he spoke in very clear forked tongue speech, saying one thing and meaning another, as well as showing the face of a demon to me for a split second, one I had seen before, 2,000 miles away from there. Also, as weird as it sounds, I felt the demon's presence before I even faced him, as I always do in their presence. I have also met a man with Tourette's syndrome, and while disturbing, I did not get the sense that he was possessed. Scientists know that genetics contributes strongly to Tourette's along with environmental factors. Some forms of Tourette's may have been diagnosed as epilepsy for its ticks and spasms. As indicated in the Scriptures, demons have total control over the victim's body, not just partial, as Tourette's would suggest. —Matthew 8:28; 9:32-33; 12:22; Luke 4:33-35; 9:42; Acts 16:16-18
It is also interesting to note that the gospel accounts do not mention that Jesus ever healed the physically deformed. However, usually the deformed were put out of their misery shortly after birth in those days, and the psychotic were put to death for their crimes or by parents counting them as unresponsive to counsel. (Exodus 21:15-17; 31:14-15; 35:2; Leviticus 20:9; 20:27; 24:17, 21; Deuteronomy 21:18-21) Tourette's sufferers would likely have been put to death the first time they cursed after taking up Jehovah's name, based on Leviticus 24:16. Everyone else with simply depression, Jesus provided much counsel to in the Scriptures. Also, those who simply didn't realize they had a problem or didn't think of it as much of a problem likely never came to him for healing.

the bible says , and he healed them all, all who were brought to jesus , he healed, i will edit to explain
At matthew 15:30,31 it says, then the great crowds approached him, having along with the people that were lame, maimed, blind dumb, and MANY OTHERWISE, and they fairly threw them at his feet, and he cured them all. so the crowd felt amazement as they saw the dumb speaking, and the lame walking and the blind seeing , and they glorified the god of israel
also luke 9:11 says, but the crowds getting to know it, followed him. And he received them kindly and began to speak to them about the kingdom of god and he healed those needing a cure.
You see no one was left out, in fact in luke 8:43-48 there was a woman who had a flow of blood for 12 years, one of the israelite laws forbade any one with a flow of blood, (and other type of bodily fluid) because she was out side , she coud have been stoned to death, she touched the fringe of his outer garment and was healed.
so the bible records MANY infermaties, and leaves room for all those needing a cure. most likely depression would be among them.
MANY WERE DOWN HEARTED , THIS COULD HAVE MEANT DEPRESSED, i mean, mental illness, has not come to be like the common cold untill the last 100 or so years. (just to say how much its recognised now)
depression, and other mental illness, does not mean they were demonised.
for future promises see, revelation 21:2-4
pslams 36:10,11
Isiah 35;5-7 JUST KEEP GOING THROUGH 8-10
and theres many more!!!
FOX FIRE has a good one too , at matthew 4:24 , i will add that to my storehouse, thanks!

I don't see a word in there about amputees. Unless of course they fall under the nebulous phrase "many others." You'd figure something as amazing as regrowing an arm would be cause for elaboration, though. Again, where does it say he claimed to have restored a missing limb? Even a toe? Seems like an event of this sort would be of worthy note. It would seem if Jesus magically regrew or poofed an arm back onto a victim of some sort of carpentry project gone awry it would get more than a "maimed" or "many others" reference.

Jesus saves i can testify to that myself. You have to believe for it to work. I thank God 4 showing me his salvation and i pray 4 all people to find God thru Jesus and to pray 4 each other. I had a tbi years ago and was very sick. No doctor could or would help and everyone was mean. I prayed and the Lord heard and i am thankful. the most amazing thing i feel to be alive.

Who said He did NOT heal mental disorders? He did, after all, cast out demons, and in one example, a man who had a whole legion of demons in him, after Jesus cast out the demons, the man was clothed and in his right mind!
- heyDavidLv 61 decade ago
The part in the bible that tells of the devil telling his name, Legion, and I am many, is all disorders of the human consciousness, and were proven to be a coward before truth as they entered the swine to ran into the sea.
