Your opinion- PETA or not? ?

Taking this website into account. Read it through, at least a bit. I think everyone knows PETA's side of it, but what of a investigation of PETA?http://www.petakillsanimals.com/

So if you did, and now know 2 sides of it, what is your opinion on it?

Really, just asking for an opinion. Im not looking for a certain answer, just curious. I know this will stir the pot. But Please be polite to the opposite opinion. (Ie no spurning certain people by name because they don't agree with you, or systematically going through and thumbs downing people who do not agree with you)

Update:

Bravo, Bravo. I love it when people actually think before they answer, take the time to read the material provided, see both sides of it. Im glad to see that rational intelligent people still exist on the pet boards.

I can't stand PETA.. My biggest problem with them is that they very carefully skate around their stances on issues to have as many members as possible while not really keeping their members informed on what they support..

For instance, PETA is 100% for eliminating pets. I would say easily 90% of PETA's members do not know that because of how PETA words their articles..

    Here's PETA's stance on pets..

    http://www.peta.org/campaigns/ar-petaonpets.asp

"We at PETA very much love the animal companions who share our homes, but we believe that it would have been in the animals' best interests if the institution of "pet keeping"—i.e., breeding animals to be kept and regarded as "pets"—never existed."

    http://www.peta.org/mc/factsheet_display.asp?ID=13...

"In a perfect world, animals would be free to live their lives to the fullest, raising their young and following their natural instincts in their native environments. Domesticated dogs and cats, however, cannot live “free” in our concrete jungles, so we are responsible for their care. People with the time, money, love, and patience to make a lifetime commitment to an animal can make an enormous difference by adopting an animal from a shelter or rescuing an animal from a perilous

life on the streets. IT IS IMPORTANT, ALSO, TO KEEP OUR COMPANION ANIMALS FROM REPRODUCING, WHICH PERPETUATES A CLASS OF ANIMALS WHO ARE

FORCED TO RELY ON HUMANS TO SURVIVE."

There's like a whole article to answer a very simple question and they never actually answer it straightforward. Why? Because they have something they want to hide from their members without actually lying and offending those who do support them and pet elimination..

Here's the ASPCA's stance on pets..

    http://www.aspca.org/site/PageServer?pagename=pp_c...

    "2.1 Human/Companion Animal Bond

The ASPCA recognizes the legitimacy of the human/companion animal bond. It is the ASPCA’s belief that appropriate pets carefully maintained are fully justified, and that both humans and animals benefit from the relationship."

That's the whole thing, no skating around any issues.. Why? Because they aren't trying to trick people or hide anything..

I don't care if an organization wants people to believe the moon is made of cheese, whatever works for you. BUT, my problem is when an organization presents itself as a savior of the animals with commercials including the animals people love most, pets, when in all reality their aim is to ELIMINATE the very animals they claim to save..

I wouldn't have any problem with PETA if they were straightforward with their beliefs, because then a lot less people would be duped into supporting them and local shelters might actually get some decent donations instead of them getting sent to PETA. I also wouldn't despise them so much if they actually tried to ban meat openly instead of using subversive practices like banning things necessary to raising meat animals and buying petition signatures.. That way people would actually know where they stand before sending them money..

I think they shoukd be investigated they kill alot of animals every year by doing thing with out thinking they figure they are helping but htey are not they end uo putting animals in harms way. exp: I have show dogs for over 20 years and I remember this one time we were at a show in Milwaukee,WI right off the highway, and they went and opened a bunch of kennels letting a bunch of show dogs out onto the highway and most where hit by cars, there was another time that they would put antifreeze in the food or drinking water of the dogs so They are no better than some of the people they are trying to cusify!

  • I am adamantly opposed to PETA. They appear to have an agenda that will ultimately, if left unchecked, not allow anyone any pets at all. They believe dogs and cats, created by nature to be carnivores, should be fed a vegetarian diet. They fund individuals listed as terrorists and they kill more animals than any "kill" shelter known. If allowed to pass the legislation they want they will cripple the AG industry in the US.

They are crazy and I can't imagine any sane person would support them.

I remember discovering that site awhile ago and being disgusted by their euthanization rates. I had also never realized how ridiculous it is that they can have so much money, millions and millions of dollars, and yet make such a small impact compared to organizations like the ASPCA.

I think PETA has it's heart in the right place most of the time when it comes to humane treatment of animals.

I think their idea of vegan dog food is stupid..dogs are carnivores.

And it doesnt suprise me that they aren't anymore perfect than any other shelter (excluding non kill shelters).

it appears they are just better at hiding it.

I think they take it to the extreme, and this article , if its true just makes them hypocritical.

seeing is believing. They murder animals and pocket donations,it's a scam.
