Should the Bengals fire Marvin Lewis?

I don't care if he just signed a contract extension. Now that Mike Shanahan is available, the Bengals should go after him full force.

Probably not the best idea. The Bengals may have had another disappointing season, but there is no doubting that Marvin Lewis has made an imprint on that organization. He brought them to their first playoff appearance in 10+ seasons. That franchise was almost as bad as the Lions are right now. Firing isn't a good idea, because he brings an identity to that team. He is a tough coach that dealt with injuries which is what caused the Bengals to suffer this season. Also the Bengals suffered from legal issues with their players and distractions that Chad Johnson started. I think you need to give Lewis one more seasons to prove himself. If he can't then it should be over. But there is no doubt he made that team better when he came.

Lewis is 46-49-1 through eight seasons with the Bengals, including an 0-1 record in the playoffs. Couple this with all the off the field issues the Bungles have had, he is more qualified to be fired than most. However, he won't be. Two years left on the contract and 7 mil guaranteed, he's going to be coaching in Cincy next season.

I honestly don't know how Marvin Lewis still has his job in Cincinnati... if anybody was getting fired on black Monday I figured it would be him.

No they should keep him untill he goes on a drug run with one of his jailbird players. That way when he gets arrested they won't have to pay him.

Yes. He has proved he can coach during the regular season but has not proved he can do anything past the last regular season game.
