Excited for show season anyone? Tips and stories!?
In spring especially there are a lot of shows. I am very excited but I need some hints or tips on how to do well in my first show. I have been riding for over 4 years and every trainer I have had says I am ready but I just want to know what to expect. It will be a schooling show of course for the first one. I do Hunter and Jumper and I will enter in an equitation class and hunter under saddle class. I have tall boots, a show shirt, lots of breeches, velvet helmet, and show coat, so I will look my best. But any tips?
Also I want to hear stories about your first show or shows that you have done in the past. All embarrassing or funny stories are welcome!
Thanks and have a Happy New Year! :)

jointly as ever you pass to a eating place, the waiters assume everywhere between a 15-20p.ctip in case you attempt to locate retail shops you will, whether branch shops (aspects wherein they have have been given many shops in one construction) are ordinarily interior the suburbs. while paying for some situation you may get burdened approximately the state/community gross revenues tax. vacationing from those cities in no way use a coach, trains are not as favourite suitable right here as interior the remainder of the worldwide. In NYC see the financial street, situations oblong, use the subway at grand important station(ask wherein the whispering partitions is) perchance the statue of liberty and Ellis island, important park, and perchance the Empire state construction. In l. a. i do no longer journey there so i do no longer comprehend.

Well hopefully your horse has been to a show because I entered my old horse into a hunter class, and he was so excited he went faster that he usually did and held his head higher. You have a show pin? And I guess I could give you a horse story.
I went to my first jumping show with a pony that i now own, and we were having a fairly good day. She freaked out at a mini pony, but other that that she wasnt refusing jumps and we had placed 2nd, 2nd, and 5th. We had three fences left in our last round, and then we turned the corner and she tripped on a wet spot and I went flying and hit my shoulder. The people at the showing place over reacted and called an ambulance. So they strapped me to a body board, put a neck brace on my and everything. Stopped the show to bring in the ambulance for me, and I got lifted by some very handsome firemen, it was a cool experiance, but if I was hurt it wouldnt be funny, but it was probably the best thing that has ever happened to me! :p

Since your jumping you'll want to have a belt. When you jump your coat gets lifted up and it just looks strange if you don't have a belt on. A brown cheap leather one is best.
For your first real show you'll feel extremely nervous. Not to scare you. After your first go in the ring you'll be fine. Just remember to smile and have fun. Honestly, if you get worked up you won't place as well. Did you know smiling controls your whole body's tension? If you smile the rest of you becomes relaxed. Its cool I know! :)
Make sure to wear breeches that come up to your belly button. Judges hate seeing low-rise breeches in the show ring.
Braid your horse, regardless. Learn how before the show.
Do a trial run with all of your show clothes on and with "perfect" form. Make sure everything will fit in the summer.
I hope this helped.

take a groom with you! i usualy have my amazing mum on hand with my horses waiting to take the next 1 in the ring and some water[you will need it!!!].
change of clothes is good. go down with some really scruffy clothes over the top or u can change.
stay calm.
focus.
mane and tail spray. extra pretty. =]
whitening spray or chalk is a good idea if your horse has white markings!
turn up way earlier than you think you need to because 9 times out of 10 something will happen/turn up and you will get delayed! you need plenty of time to sort yourself out and warm your horse up.
learn your course before you warm up. well as best you can lol[they always have me confused lol]
dont push your horse too hard in the warm up eave your best for the ring ;)
mmm....ahh my minds gone blank i had it all planned in my head.
ill write more if i can remember :s
hope ive helped a little anyways =]

I went to my first show when i was 4 i think. I dont have any pictures on my computer from when i was that young
I do have some from when i was 6 though.
Ive gone on from there. Ive always had good looking horses and have either schooled them well or mum has schooled them for me so always done well.
The first time i did a working hunter course we went clear, won the first place, then went champion so denoviced ourselves on our first outing. we could compete in novice classes for the rest of the season (about 3 weeks left of it at that stage) but after that i had to go into the opens. was a bit miffed about that as i realy could have done with a bit longer in novices as it was we didnt manage to get out to a workers show for the rest of the season so i ended up with one novice class under my belt before having to go into the opens.

Good Luck at your show!
Make sure you wear normal clothes to the show. i expect you will be grooming and tacking up your horse so you don't want to get dirt on your clothes.Lol.
I normally wear my chaps and jeans to the show grounds and groom my horse and tack hem up and warm her up about 1 hour before my first class. Then I will untack her and groom her to "show standard" with Show Sheen(it will become your best friend if you show a lot.Lol.) and make sure her white marks have been washed with whitening shampoo and you can also use polish on her hooves etc,. Then I will tack her up and put a scrim sheet on her and make a quick run for the bathroom and change then come back and take the sheet off and mount and go to the in gate. I always make sure I have my mom or a groom near by though, at shows it can be stressful on your first time or two because you want everything to be perfect. So having that person to help you when you need them is a good idea. Also get there early and learn your course. By USEF rules, the course sheet HAS to be posted at least 30 minutes before the class starts so I always learn it before my warm up. Just have a "game plan" and know all the times you will be entering for your class and plan around it, and always plan with a little extra time because something always happens to where you are going to need a few extra minutes.Lol.
