HELP!!! my dog was just staggering around like he was drunk! what is it?

My dog is a german shepard/border collie about 3 years old. He is in excellent health. About ten minutes ago he started stumbling around like he was drunk with his tail between his legs. I then made him lay down and now he is up and running around like nothing happened. His nose is warm and wet and heart rate good. What was it and what should i do?

Call your Vet and get your dog checked out...

It could be that your dog jumped up too suddenly and just got a head-rush (the same as we get sometimes as humans), so if it's that, be thankful!

But, there could be many other things that could have caused it, too. Don't wait to see your Vet. Simple blood and urine tests can be done to check Glucose levels and things like that. If you catch something early, then you'll be glad you did!

    Good Luck!

This Dog could have been Dehydrated and just needed some water. Or if it was running/exercising more then it usually does, then the dogs heart could pump faster then usually causing a dizzy like state. Either or I doubt it was anything that could've hurt your dog, but I hope its okay.

It sounds like the after-effects of a petit mal seizure. Schedule an appointment with your vet - it may be an isolated incident or it may be genetic or related to diabetes or another incident. If he has another seizure tonight, try to contact a 24 hour clinic in your area.

Weird. Just keep an eye on him and call your vet when you can. It never hurts to ask a professional.

Could have been a mini stroke or a number of things.

If it were me I would have already had him at the vet just for peace of mind.
