The truth about Time Warner Cable and the 16 channel black out?

Time Warner Chief Executive Glenn Britt on Wednesday called Viacom's demand for a 12 percent increase in fees - an extra $39 million on top of the estimated $300 million it pays Viacom annually - extortion and outrageous given the recession. Viacom countered that the requested increase amounted to an extra $2.76 annually per subscriber.

"We sympathize with the fact that Viacom's advertising business is suffering and that their networks' ratings have largely been declining," Britt said in a statement. "However, we can't abide their attempt to make up their lost revenue on the backs of Time Warner Cable customers."

WOULD you make that telephone call to time warner if you knew it would make YOUR bill increase? Time warner is doing it for your own good so that they dont hike up your bill! what is your opinion?

Update:

for those of you that dont know at 1 minute past midnight tonight if viacom and time warner dont come into agreement time warner will black out up to 18 channels including MTV and nickelodeon

yes i have dish network but this is why i changed from cable, the rate increases constantly and stuff like this not to say it couldnt happen to satellite but i feel bad for the people (and especially the kids) because big people cant get along :oD

    My opinion is to change to another cable company. I was so scared when I saw it on Nickelodeon this morning. There was a little message on the bottom of the screen. Good thing I have DirecTV. =))))

  • They suck anyway. Unfortunately My complex doesn't allow satellite dish's and Time warner is the only provider in this area. Charter is tons better but I had to move here for a job.

    Yea I dropped them and Comcast thank God. I have Direct TV now

    Time Warner cable sux anyway! Their customer service department is useless & their overall service is a joke. I'm glad I dropped them 6 mths ago. Fnck Time Warner

    i have heard bits and pieces. I know my 11 and 12 yrs old daughters are devastated, as they live for Nickelodeon!!
