Giants Fans: Giants going for Manny?

http://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2009/01/giants-aggre...

Good or Bad?

Would we want him?

Would we want another d-bag in the clubhouse?

Are the Giants just drving the price up for the Dodgers?

Good move for the Giants. Its pretty simple really. If an NL West team gets Manny, they will basically be the favorites to win the division. Look at it:

Rockies: Traded Matt Holliday to A's, and lost Brian Fuentes to Free Agency. They did acquire Street, but he's injury prone and inconsistent.

Dodgers: Have an overpaid outfield, and lost several pitchers (Lowe, Penny, Biemel, etc) and infielders (Garciaparra, Kent), and now potentially Manny.

Diamondbacks: Lost Orlando Hudson, Adam Dunn, Randy Johnson, and several pitchers. Had trouble down the stretch last year, and now they dont look as good, unless the young talent steps up.

Padres: Traded Khalil Green, and a Peavy trade is possible but unlikely. If it happens, their pitching will be dismal, with an already weak lineup.

Giants: Added Renteria, after losing Visquel. Also lost Aurilia. Added bullpen help with Affeldt. And added Randy Johnson. With a strong pitching staff, Manny would help their weak lineup alot.

Its a great deal if the giants get him hes proven and he would totally change the line-up we would have a true cleanup hitter. Molina is great don't get me wrong but hes not a power hitter and hed be much better suited for the 5 hole in the line-up. Fred Lewis, one of the Giants best up and coming players who hit leadoff most of last year would either have to move to center field or get less playing time. We already have a surplus of outfielders llikeWinn, who hits .300 every year and Rowand who had a huge slump after the all-star break last year and Lewis a future all-star. He wouldn't be a huge *** in the club house beause he would be a fan favorite and the Giants fans wouldnt care as much now that weve survived Barry Bonds. Really Giants fans only care about production and he defiantely produces.

Why shouldn't they? First off they have needed a big bat since Bonds left, love him or hate him he affected the way pitchers approached the lineup. As far as a the d-bag comment goes, Boston had there fill of him yes but everyone in LA seemed to love him last year.

I don't think the Giants are driving up the price. I haven't heard a lot of teams too interested in him.

I don't get your question. No offense. They supported Bonds because he was a Giant. That is why they will boo Manny Ramirez who is a Dodger. Just like they booed him last year, but would cheer him if he signed with the Giants. It seems like a strange comparison. Red Sox fans boo Derek Jeter, despite the fact that they cheer for J.D. Drew. People boo visiting players.

I absolutely hate Sabean, however this would win him a little respect from me. Manny is a club house cancer, but we dealt with Bonds as well. Let's not forget about Jeff Kent either. He is getting old and he wouldn't be around for too long, so I don't think he would cause too much trouble. He would be an instant upgrade to a young line up. If he hits 35+ HR and Pablo Sandavol can hit 25+ (he is capable of it I think) we could take a very weak west.

In my opinion I would say it would be Good because you could easily run away with a weak division If do get him you would probably have to lose Dave Roberts, Randy winn, and another outfielder for salary, i think he would be a good fit for the right money and years, and yes the Giants are just making the Dodgers worry abit.

The lineup would look so much better with Manny and probably would help the other hitters around him so they don't do too much. Manny could be a problem guy at times but compare to Bonds, I'd take it. If we get Manny, we are in good position to take the NL West.

  • ouch on "d-bag"

I think this may be false. For all we know, Scott Boras put it in the news to make the Dogers drive up the price again.

It's their own fault for not taking 2 yr $45 mil (i believe it was) that LA origiinally offered.

It is a great move for the Giants.

When talking about a team who is totally offensively challenged Manny is a great move.

I Doubt it would happen, If they would have to dump those players that would be really dumb. Plus the infield sucks they have an OK outfield but god damnit fix your stupid infield!

Plus Manny wont wanna go to a losing team
