JWs- Is reading the Daily Text considered "Daily Bible Reading"?
Or do we NEED to have additional reading?
While we're on the subject;
My congregation has not yet received our Daily Texts, this morning I asked Vot to type out today's text for me and she suggested asking for someone with the 2009 WT CD to email me the text for January (She said someone did that for her last year)
Anyone able and willing to help? :-)
Thanks Mami, but Vot already typed up today's text for me via IM. Could you email me the texts for the entire month of January so that I don't have to ask everyday?
guys, i kinda need my daily text sent to me. the question is so no one will delete my question. it's if any1 has the WT cd, and can email me the daily text for Jan please.
LOL. ben dover, no she doesn't talk in 3rd person with me. :D she talks normal. it's funny, i'll tell her later on XD.

Euodia I exhort and Syntyche I exhort to be of the same mind in the Lord-Phil. 4:2.
From time to time, misunderstandings or problems occur in a congregation, as they did in the first century when some of the apostles were still present. An overseer or another person may say something that seems rude, unkind, or not quite true. Or we may thin that something unscriptural is happening, but it seems that although the local elders are aware of it, they do not correct the matter. Of course, it may be that the issue has been been or is being handled in accord with the Scriptures and in the light of facts of which we are unaware. But even if the situation is what we think it is, consider this: For a while a serious wrong existed in the Corinthian congregation. In time, Jehovah had the wrongdoing handled, correctly and firmly. (1 Cor. 5:1, 5, 9-11) We might ask ourselves, "If I had lived in Corinth back then, how would I have reacted in the meantime?" w07 4/11 2:13

Nice one :-) I tried this method for the book of Proverbs (took me about a month and half):-D I'd read a chapter, think about what it meant, then the next night I'd read all the articles in the Library that discussed that chapter (not single verses, but the entire chapter) and then I'd compare the thoughts raised in the articles with what I had deduced the night before. That worked till I got to Prov 15 or thereabouts. (There were no more articles discussing the entire chapter), so then I just read a chapter a night. I started Genesis last night, but this time on a different schedule, one that lets me read the entire Bible in one year, and each week I read something from the law, the prophets, psalms, poetry, gospels, letters, and history. Vot never knew Bible reading could be so much fun!!! I've been depriving myself of this the past 6+ years xD ===================== Vot used to forget to do the text, till I started doing it at breakfast. I NEVER forget to eat breakfast, so..... Oooops! Vot forgot!! (((Abernathy)))

It is daily Bible reading but our reading should not stop at that point.
There may be a rare situation - extreme sickness, stressful serious problems, etc, where the text is all we can accomplish.
But if we have 5 minutes, we can usually read a chapter or at least a half of a chapter in the Bible itself.
If I have a "minimum day", I make extra special efforts for the following days to get in some extra reading.
EDIT:
TEARS - I have a hard time thinking of an ANGRY penguin when I look at that fuzzy little creature. He looks helpless, not angry. Sorry.
EDIT EDIT:
Do you also make a habit of looking up any additional scriptures in the comments? That would at least get a few extra in there on a busy, busy day.
I will be honest. For years I did not do that. But in more recent times, I have and felt better for doing so. I check mark my text as I read and look up all the verses. If I don't read the extras right then, I don't checkmark. This tells me I still have to do it later that day or the next. I do not let myself get by without doing it now.
Look at how many extra there are for the 2nd.

Is anyone sending the texts to you yet? I can if no one else is.
Edit: The 2008 WT Library disc has the texts for January and February 2009 on it.

No!
Many read the Bible in the morning, after considering the Scriptural text and comments found in the booklet Examining the Scriptures Daily. Others prefer reading before going to bed at night. Choose a realistic time that works for you, and adapt as needed. Alicia observes: “Flexibility is really the key to my keeping a regular schedule for reading.”

Direct your heart unswervingly to Jehovah and serve him alone.—1 Sam. 7:3.
The Bible does not say how old Samuel was when he died, but events in the book of First Samuel cover about 102 years, and Samuel witnessed most of them. At Hebrews 11:32, 33, we read that upright judges and prophets “effected righteousness.” Yes, Samuel influenced some of his contemporaries to avoid or abandon wrongdoing. (1 Sam. 7:2, 4) By what means? He was loyal to Jehovah throughout his life. (1 Sam. 12:2-5) He was not afraid to give strong counsel even to the king. (1 Sam. 15:16-29) In addition, Samuel, having “grown old and gray,” proved himself exemplary in praying with regard to others. He declared it “unthinkable . . . to sin against Jehovah by ceasing to pray” in behalf of his fellow Israelites. (1 Sam. 12:2, 23) All of this highlights that aged ones can exert an influence for good on fellow servants of Jehovah. w07 6/1 2:13, 14

It's bible reading daily, BUT not reading the Bible daily.
Those at the Watchtower Society tells us to;
"Read your Bible daily".
Nothing takes the place of the Bible! Aren't we glad that Jehovah gives us an abundance of 'spiritual' food to go along with it?
Tears of Oberon compared the 'daily text'' to a carrot...Well, I'll go along with that. The Bible is like the entree or meat, with all the carrots (daily text), potatoes (magazines), etc...on the side.
Jehovah's people unlike Christendom has a 'banquet of well-oiled dishes' (spiritual food) everday! (Is.25:6) They will never go without!!

no that's not bible reading because that information is based on 1 verse and it gives an explanation of it. But you can read the daily text and after you are done you can read the whole chapter in the bible that includes that day's verse. I've done it before and it's basically the only way i get my bible reading.

The daily text is either a portion of or an entire Bible verse. I would hardly consider that Bible reading. We should read at least two or three Bible chapters per day.

Yes it is. It is not the amount of reading that is important but the quality that is important if that is all you can do then that is ok every body is different My daily bible reading consists of the daily text and the weekly bible reading assigned for the tms
