After you convert the videos, you still need to make them a DVD to play.
Nero has such a feature where you import an MPG or AVI into it's "Make Your Own Video" section and let it burn it into a DVD.
It would help a lot more if you tell us your Phone file format and how exactly are you making the DVD, you can not simply just copy an AVI or MPG into a Blank DVD and expect the DVD player to play it if it is just a normal DVD player.
There are some DVIX CDV players that will actually play MPG and AVI files from a blank DVD for you. Argos has one at £24.46 offer. Check Product 533/5275 at www.argos.co.uk
Hope this helps :-)

Hi. you don't just copy phone video files to a disc. You need to author them. You can use Xilisoft product (www.xilisoft.com) to buy it or www.freshwap.com to download it free. Mind you, you need to keep the aspect ratio of your recorded video as it is, if you would resize them to a larger size the result won't be good. Good luck!
