New Moon - How would you have handled the break up between Bella and Edward?

Would you have had her break from reality like Meyer did? (I found this to be totally unrealistic since they hadn't been together very long) Or would you have written something else? Describe it.

Update:

What is realistic about a girl breaking from reality because her boyfriend of two weeks left her. I could understand if she'd spent a few days crying hysterically and throwing things... maybe even yelling at her father. But to just break from reality and leave the world for months.. NOPE that was just too over the top..

Update 2:

I am 43 years old and I've survived more than one break up.. one was an 8 year marriage that left me a single MOM.. yes I do understand love. I loved my Husband and apparently He loved himself more than his family.

Update 3:

Yes but when you read about relationships you look for realism or why bother... I know that we all look for what we don't or can't have in books but why bother if the realism of it doesn't exist??? Normal folks don't go insane and leave the world when their boyfriends say its over. They get mad, and some even get even. They don't just go to sleep for a few months.

Update 4:

Would you use someone else to make you feel better after your boyfriend left? Like Bella did Jake.

Probably have her be pissed while putting on a strong face and then write songs about how much she hates him and how his "mom" is a whore =) Then she'd forget about him and go out with Jacob.

I can't imagine a teenage girl becoming that depressed over a boy, and I am a teenage girl. I've personally cut myself off from the world like how the book described, but it was for a MUCH bigger reason than a boy broke up with me >_> Boo freaking hoo. I personally would slap a chick for acting like that over a boy. I thought it was way over dramatic.

I definitely would have been angry with Edward, unlike Bella who still thought he was the most amazing person in the world. I would have also realized his motive for the break up but Bella is too dumb to see that. I also think Bella dwelled on it too long. She went insane which is very unrealistic. But you have to realize Bella was completely obsessed with Edward before he left. So she must have had no other reason for life. I think these are both bad concepts. After a week of crying I would have been okay. Not perfect back to normal, but okay. And Bella was not.

I handled it similar to Bella.

It didn't matter how long their relationship lasted,

it was the love she felt for him..

obviously she loved him enough it hurt her..

maybe like Charlie said in Eclipse

if Bella had spent more time with her friends,

then maybe it wouldn't have been that bad,

but REAL people can talk to their friends about a break up..

    she couldn't because, well he's a vampire.

which brings me to point number one, it's fiction,

anyways i handled a break up similarly,

I thought of this boy as my life, I thought we would spend the

rest of our lives together, and when it was over, I

shut the world out, and waited, until I became close with my

best guy friend (like Bella did with Jacob, but we didn't fall in love with each other) and I finally realized it was over and moved on with my life,

sort of, yeah it still hurts, but what can I do?

i will admit i thoroughly enjoyed the 1st e book, and the 1st action picture. i found the different books to be particularly undesirable nevertheless, the characters have been given fairly demanding, Edward's possessive, Jacob's temperamental, and Bella's needy and spineless. and the plot have been given enormously susceptible too. sorry in case you disagree, my sister loves them. it incredibly is in basic terms my opinion.

Its a fantasy book its not supposed to be realistic, i dont see people moaning at stephanie meyer for writing a book about vampires when vampires dont exist. This book wasnt written on fact my dear

you don't understand the love they have for one another... if you've ever had a broken heart then you could understand. And they were together longer than 2 weeks...anyway i just love all the books.

The WHOLE book is unrealistic. This was actually the MOST realistic part. Lie isn't perfect you know.

i agree about her leaving reality she should have gotten over it and if she really thought edward didnt like her anymore just not go save him and stay with jacob
