This is the question upon which I had my largest spiritual meltdown...when our son was in Iraq...and I knew he might have to kill someone or be killed.

When Joshua asked the angel whose side he was on, the angel said he was on neither side as he was there for God.

People mistakenly think that God is on the side that wins but is that always true? I think the Bible has shown us may times where God's people have been defeated. In the end they always come out a winner but many times loose a war because they did not follow God's laws. God has His own agenda and that agenda is the one He is concerned about. I think He takes no side in war.

As for as being God's people. God created all of us but His children are those who choose to follow Him.

Those who choose not to follow God have voluntarily excommunicated themselves. Jesus said Himself "you must be born again" that means you have a decision to make if you want to be part of God's family or not. God's people are those who follow His laws

The winning side. Every side that fights a war says God was on their side. The victors write the history, and to victor go the spoils. God is on the winner's side. Always.

All religious people say that it tooks their side.

It is an interesting question, since there is usually religious people in both sides, usually with the same god and the same religion.

    if you ask fundies, America.

However God isn't supposed to be about war and takes no 'sides', so this war with 'god on our sides' is actually retarded.

That is according to the book. I don't believe in that book, though.

God does not like man making war, God's says in his word in Isaiah that his people will learn war no more, that they will beat their swords into plowshares and their lances into pruning shears.

I don't think that God takes sides. That's like asking what political party he belong to. (If he did belong he would be a member of Socialist Party USA)

He normally checks the prices at the local bookmakers and bets on the outsider and has made quite a sum from this tactic.
