Attention residents of Florence: What is the best way to cross the Arno?
I am looking for the fastest general way to get to the Palazzo Pitti from Santa Croce. Is there a bridge to cross the Arno or boat or what? And if it's a boat, how late do they run?

There are two bridges that you may cross. The bridge at Ponte alle Grazie and the bridge at Ponte Vecchio. They are both easy and convenient. Ponte alle Grazie is less touristy whereas the bridge at Ponte Vecchio is a tourist attraction. So I'd say the the bridge at Ponte alle Grazie is faster. Santa Croce is right by the river - make your way to the river and travel west along the road that parallels the river (Lungarno delle Grazie) to the first bridge you get to and cross the river there and continue west along the road that parallels the river (Lungarno Torriaggiani) until you get to Via de' Guicciardini. To your right is Ponte Vecchio. To you left is Palazzo Pitti - about 250 meters. The whole trip walking is about 10 minutes.
The first picture is the bridge at Ponte alle Grazie, the second Ponte Vecchio.
