Trouble importing mp3s into iTunes?

Ok. I have about a dozen mp3's that I'm trying to import into iTunes. Generally, this has never been a problem but now when I drag and drop the songs into the iTunes browser, the songs don't appear in my library. I've also tried going to File > Add File to Library with no success there either.

I updated to iTunes v8 but I don't think that should have anything to do with it (but maybe I'm wrong there). Any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Update:

Next question: How can I downgrade to iTunes v7 or less? I took a quick look on apple.com and couldn't come up with anything.

for the old version of itunes go to http://www.oldapps.com/itunes.htm. As for the songs not loading there could be ab issue with the actual file I have had this issue in the past. You might want to get something like cdex to re-encode it. I find when I do that it works fine after that. Also if you can get your hands on a copy of win amp you can reencode with that to.

There are a pair approaches you additionally could make it smaller (record length). reducing the bit cost. decrease bit cost equivalent to smaller record length yet with lesser high quality. Sound high quality shouldn't count number considering which you're enjoying decrease back from a tiny telephone speaker. making use of any MP3 compression application and recompress it to a minimum of a few thing decrease (256 to 128 kbits). you additionally can edit the audio itself. Say you do no longer desire the full length of the track, or you in basic terms desire the "hook" of that track. you may try Goldwave or the different comparable audio enhancing application. entire track would be show, then you definately in basic terms spotlight and decrease the section out.

it all depends on where you got the mp3s from. Version 8 knows if you downloaded it illeagally so downgrade if possible,
