What do you think were some themes in Harry Potter? My friend and i were discussing it once and i mentioned the racism had to be part of one (I do know that a theme is a complete thought, not one word) and she was like 'i don't see it' ,but i mean come on! pure bloods vs mudbloods? don't you agree? and what do you think are some othersssss?

I totally agree, I saw it in other parts of the books as well, such as how the centaurs were treated as well as the House Elves. There were so many different uses of 'racism' in the book, however I think the only reason she was allowed to get away with it (as the publishers would have noticed unless they were ignorant prejudiced ninnies) was because J.K Rowling put in the book that being 'racist' was a bad thing, Hermione had her Elf Liberation club, everyone except Death eaters got upset when someone used the term 'mud-blood' and how the Centaurs actually were more knowledgeable in the 'fortune telling' arts than any witch or wizard.

Well I don't think the idea of mudbloods, purebloods and halfbloods is rasist. But like how Malfoy always makes fun of mudbloods and thinks they are disguisting then that's rasist. But I woudn't say rasism is a theme in the series. It's just something that happens time to time in the books.
HUGE Harry Potter Fan!!

Well I don't think it is really racism. I guess it's prejudice. But at the same time, it shows that it didn't matter what type of blood you had. Muggle-born Hermione was the cleverest witch in her year and pure-blood Neville (i think he was pure-blood) was well....not so clever. So it teaches kids that it doesn't matter where you come from, we're all people.
It also teaches about the power of love and friendship. Hmm..well I can't really think of any other good ones right now.

Accepting difference is certainly a theme - Lupin and Hagrid are obvious examples. 'Not to judge at first sight' is woven throughout the books.

Friendship is worthier than love: IN bk 6, harry debated if he should like Ginny or not because she was his brother's sister.

woah.
i never ever in a million years noticed that..
the closest to raceism i ever thought harry potter showed was because there was only like, one black guy in any given movie.
and it was always the same guy.
but woah.. never thought about pure v mudbloods
thats insanium in the cranium.

i can see it but it also shows that it doesn't matter where you come from and should be accepted for who you are and not where you come from
