I have a Uniden Bearcat scanner, and I need help.?

The model is a BC60XLT-1, and I have some CHP frequencies around my area programmed into it. It has been scanning for a while now, and nothing has been picked up yet. The weather channels work, and I know I have done it right and put all the real frequencies in. Can I have some help. Does it usually take this long. I live in Elk Grove, and I am trying to scan South Sacramento CHP Dispatch and Car Radios.

Unless you know for a fact that the frequencies you programmed are correct for your locality, then you may have bad information, it shouldn't take very long at all if the frequencies are truly and actively used in your area. Often times frequencies that you find are old or for a location farther away than where you are. What I always did was a general scan of each set/group of frequencies that your scanner is capable of and when I found one that was active, loaded that one into the memory. It was more reliable than trying out frequencies that were said to be local.

    Best of luck.
