I use Garnier Fructis Moisturizing shampoo and conditioner, and it softens my hair and, since I have very thick hair, makes it feel lighter. However, if you use a lot of products on your hair, over time it makes your hair very rough.
If you want home remedies, mash up one avocado for short hair and two for long, and lather it into your hair starting at the roots. Leave it there for 10 minutes and then rinse it out. Then, mix together 2 tablespoons of apple cider vinegar and 1 cup of warm water. Pour this over clean wet hair. Leave it there for 1 minute, then rinse it out.

You'll need to get your hair trimmed in order to get rid of the split ends. For the other bit, just use your normal shampoo/conditioner routine at the beginning of your shower or bath. When you get to the conditioner part, leave it in while you do the rest of your cleaning (shaving, body was, etc) and after about 3-5 minutes rinse the shampoo. This has the same effect as professional, deep-cleansing conditioners, for a lot less money. After you do this a few times, your hair should start feeling softer.

1) You need to brush your hair (preferably with a bristle brush) at least every day. (Don't brush wet hair without using a bristle brush).
2) Wash hair in cold water – Just the suggestion of washing your hair in cold water may sound horrible, but washing your hair in hot water is damaging. You probably know that heat is bad for your hair and causes split ends.
You don't need expensive products, you just need to know how to do the right things. ;)

Real mayonnaise! It acts as a moisurizer and will make your hair so soft if you leave it on for a few minutes.
You can also add a little bit of honey and vinegar to water and use it as a rinse to make your hair shinier.

The product I use almost everyday to make my hair soft and to protect it is Biosilk: Silk Therapy.
You should apply this product before and after hair styling, as it will keep it protected, manageable, and very, very soft!
Hope it works for you! :)
