What do these terms mean (I believe they are Jewish and Muslim, but not sure)?

I was watching the Hebrew Hammer. For those who don't know, it's a movie that handles the interaction between Christians and Jews in a lighthearted way; like Undercover Brother handles the interaction between white culture and black culture in a funny way.

Well, when Mordechai (the Hebrew Hammer) and Mohammed of the Kwanzaa Liberation Front are about to leave each other, they say some things to each other. I was wondering what they mean.

Mohammed says "Salaam Malaykam" (I apologize if spelled incorrectly). Mordechai responds with "Malaykam Salaam."

Then Mordechai tells him, "L'Chaim" (pretty sure it's spelled correctly because that was on his license plate also).

So what does Salaam Malaykam mean, and does Malaykam Salaam mean anything different?

And what does L'Chaim mean?

Thanks for any help. And again, I apologize for any misspellings, and no disrespect is meant if I said anything offensive in my question.

Salaam Aleikum is Arabic for Peace be with you.

They respond by saying Aleikum Salaam.

In Hebrew it would be Shalom Alechem and then Alechem Shalom.

L'Chaim is "to life" when you make a toast.

Arabic greeting: As-Salaam Alaykum = "Peace be upon you"

Arabic reply: Alaykum As-Salaam = "And upon you be peace"

L'Chaim = "To Life!" in Hebrew

No need to worry about misspellings, as neither of these languages naturally uses English letters. Both phrases are transliterated when spelled out in English, rather than translated.

"Salaam 'Alaykum" is a traditional Arabic greeting that means "peace be upon you". The traditional response is "`Alaykum As-Salaam", which just means "and upon you be peace".

"L'Chaim" is a Hebrew phrase meaning "to life". It's usually used as a toast.

Salaam Alaykum means "peace be upon you"

Alaykum Salaam means "upon you be peace"

They are common arabic greeting/farewell, like how we say "How're you doing" followed by "I'm doing pretty good"

L'chaim, I forget what that means, it might mean goodbye or something like that.

The first two are "peace unto you"

The second one means "to life"
