My fellow atheists, do any of you find it rather homoerotic...?

when the male Christians go on and on about how much they "love Jesus!" It's a bit strange, seems to me. Could their extreme "love" of Jesus be an outlet for homosexual tendencies? Of course, I guess the same goes for the female Christians proclaiming such urgent love for Jesus. It too is quite erotic, highly emotional and sensual. But, of course, heterosexual. Since God, apparently, is male...

Update:

KeiMushi- are you suggesting I'm not an atheist?

Update 2:

Some of your answers are pretty funny considering the "church" is refered to as "the bride of Christ".

Update 3:

Mary E: So you would be fine with Christians refering to God as "She" or "It"? If God does not have a gender, as you say...

And what about that whole thing with taking "the body of Christ" orally...?

The love that a Christian has for Jesus is not a love that is als expressed by physical activity aka sexual activity..that would be homosexual in the men case and sensual in the woman. We Love God as our Father. Just because you love your father very much does not mean you express homosexual tendencies as a man ot anything sensual toward Him.

God is not neither male/female..God is a Spirit As John 4:24 states, “God is a Spirit.

In countless references to God in Scripture, there is clearly a consistent pattern of Him being referred to with masculine titles, nouns and pronouns. While God is not a man, but is a Spirit, He chose a masculine form in order to reveal Himself to mankind. Likewise, Jesus Christ, who is constantly referred to with masculine titles, nouns and pronouns took a male form while He walked on the earth. The prophets of the Old Testament and the Apostles of the New Testament refer to both God and Jesus Christ with masculine names and titles. God chose to be revealed in this form in order for man to more easily grasp who God is.

I believe they refer more to the love encompassed by the Greek philias, from which we get our words audiophile (sound/music lover) and oenophile (wine lover). You are trying to attribute the love word to what the Greeks called eros, the source of the word erotic. And of course there is also the love of humanity attributed to many of the disciples, which the Greeks would have called agape' - and I'm not offhand familiar with an English cognate word for that one.

Interesting theory. Of course, Jesus is a little less than a theory...

Does that mean when a person exclaims "God I'm coming" they really are thinking about God?

I wouldn't go that far. But some people have observed that the mystic tradition in religions seems to have an erotic component.

No, but that was quite a leap you took. The "love" they have for Jesus is probably not a passionate one, but more like a love for a family member. I love my brother but I'm not going to put the moves on him.

Not everyone wants to be rocked by sexy Jesus.

Considering the fact that love goes beyond gender, no. I can't see why anyone would really get turned on by a man who's bodily features aren't known...

Haha I like how "Monica P" likened God to a dog. Hilarious.

Not really. I think you are stretching a bit there. I am sure it is true for some Christians, but I would suspect very few.

I think it's unfortunate that you see that. There are many types of love, and if you're only thinking of one of them, you're missing out quite a bit.

I love my wife with a romantic love. I love my father a completely different way. I love my male friends a way different from that. And I love Jesus in yet another way.

Your confusion is in equating sex and love. They aren't the same thing.
