if yu are sharing the same itunes store account there is not issue.
make sure you have the latest version of itunes on your computer and ...Make sure you have a full power USB connection (many laptops and keyboard connectors only give 100mA max rather than the full 500mA, also do not connect via an unpowered hub either.
connect it direct to the computer on a full power USB port or via a powered hub (mains transformer connected to it) and it should be OK.
the Master files are on the computer in the itunes library and you really need to back these up directly.
Thats NOT they way its designed to work the ipod is a slave device to ONE itunes only although itunes can have many ipods. When you PAIR an iPod with a computer it erases all songs on it!!! and deletes pairing with original computer.
now as to the logistics:-
option 1. create another user account on your PC for her and let her create her own itunes library, music folder and itunes store account.
option 2. let her share your itunes music library and account but set up different playlists each.. in the ipods settings page you can set it to sync all , sync seleted, or sync none. under sync selected chose which playlists you want on each ipod then 2 ipods can share 1 itunes.

attempt to take a seat back your ipod. in case you have a classic or quite lots something different than a splash then carry the middle nbutton and the menu button after which you will see somewhat apple apear once you ipod exhibits its time-honored show screen then it is been relax. or attempt to look when you connect it on your computer to circulate to the putting website and make sure you have the "sync my ipod" container checked. and if that doesnt paintings then call apple or take it to an apple save. :)

maybe try creating two users on the computer, create a user for her (under, control panel, users). then it should give a new blank itunes so u can put the songs she wants onto her user itunes and maybe it will be able to sync it with hers - worth a go I guess.

Create another used on your PC, or use the guest user function.
Then get sis to do her ipod stuff under this ID and it will not affect your stuff.
