The History Channel End of Days Specials?

I didn't watch the History Channel last January and am wondering if every January they show the whole 'End of Days' shows about the 7 signs and how we are getting close to the world ending. I decided to check it out because I am now reading the bible for the first time and was curious about it.

Frankly the specials on the History channel just depress me. Especially the whole predicting the world will end on Dec 12, 2012. I haven't read too much of the Bible yet and I know it isn't in the bible, only predictions. But after watching the specials, it's bummed me out. My husband and I don't have any children yet and I feel sad that we might never have them or see them grow up. I'm also bummed out to try and purchase a home someday due to fear that there's no doubt in trying and trying if the end if near.

Does anyone else get freaked out by the History Channel's specials lately?

    Freaked out? No.

Sad that the History Channel would resort to this kind of senseless fear-mongering to up its ratings? Oh hell yes.

    It's pathetic.

OK...so, will you feel any better when 2012 comes and goes, and you've put off having kids/buying a home? Or will you just look for a new date for the end of time to put off doing things that you want to do?

If you read your Bible, why don't you believe the part where it says that only God knows when the end is coming?

Frankly, it's depressing that so many people watch Survivor and American Idol, and worry about the world ending in 2012. None of them believe anything ELSE the Mayans came up with? In all other aspects, christians consider the Mayans to be savages, and not saved by the Word of God. But hey, their calendar ends on 2012, so maybe it's so.

And riddle me this: IF the Mayans DID indeed intend to use 2012 as the end of the world, and ARE right...doesn't THAT in turn mean that THEIR gods are the "real" ones, and that the christian religions are false????

    Source(s): Common sense, logical thinking.

The sad part is that the History Channel does these documentaries from a skewed perspective and does not share the whole truth.

What truly matters is, do you have a right relationship with God through Jesus Christ?

If you repent and forsake sin and trust in Jesus Christ you shall see eternal life.

Keep reading the bible, especially the gospel of John. The bible holds the words of life!

No one knows when the end will come, I see the end could come to any one of us at any second, any of us could die before our Lord comes back. ,we all have an appointment with our Creator sooner or later...Sweetie, as children of God we are to put Him first, commit your life to Him, He will always look out for your best interest, He knows what is best for us even if we do not agree. :) Plan your life and be happy, and having the Lord in your life will give you the peace and comfort that we all need in this world. Love & Prayers :)

    Lady , get a grip , it's a Channel .it's only talking about the 2012 predictions , it isn't proving that 2012 is going to happen .

ROFLOL!!! You conspiricy nuts are a rebellion!!! in case you project any of the findings then hire some engineers to do your very own calculations, do no longer parade a team of uneducated hypothesis from people who have not the 1st theory what they are speaking approximately.

you have some very good answers here. live one day at a time with our Lord, trust Him, He is in control. these things will happen but Jesus has over come the world. seek Him to what He wants you to do. i have six children and eight grandchildren so i pray and trust God with them.

    keep your eyes on Jesus!

no it doesn't freak me out.

I look to God's word for comfort knowing that Jesus has saved me,I know where I am going.

I watched that show last night and it was interesting and I can see bible prophesy being fulfilled but you don't have to be afraid of these things when you put your trust in Christ as your savior.

BTW,2012 has nothing to do with anything,no one knows when but God.
