How do I get System Restore to work again after a major trojan?
I just did the Malwarebytes.org download and got rid of the huge trojan Vundo but I still don't have the system restore capability back. What else can I do?

basically you should have turned off your system restore while dealing with the infection..now that it's gone go to start all programs>accessories>system tools>system restore ...if you are not given the option ..your machine may not be completely clean...you should download spybot search and destroy..run it and that should restore your system restore function

It's possible there might be some other virus still blocking it or the trojan could have permanently deleted the files needed for system restore to function properly. Try running some other virus scanners like TrendMicro Housecall (http://housecall.trendmicro.com/ ) to make sure. Otherwise, it looks like you will need a full Windows reinstall to fix that. Make sure you backup all your important data so you don't lose it.

get spybot search and destroy and see if that can clean up any after effects.
worst case, and I mean worst case scenario- use a system restore cd.
The upside is that your pc will start completely fresh; the downside is you lose ALL information currently on your computer. Best if not used unless you've lost all control of your computer (See Blue screen of death.)

strongly suggest that you reformat your hard drive including deleting any partitions, then restoring from your restore CD, Also, you would be better off didabeling system restore
