Disney world in December?
My boyfriend and I are planning a trip to Disney world in December for Christmas time.
We were thinking 6-7days. Either the the 1st week in Dec (11/30-12/6) or 2nd week (12/7-12/13). Does one of these weeks have less crowds than the other??
Also, what is the weather like at this time?
Thanks a lot!!

If those are the two dates you have selected I would choose the 12/7-12/13 week. Because Thanksgiving is on the 26th you might be cutting it a little close with famlies lingering after the holiday if you check-in on the 30th.
On the plus side your resort will cost the same regardless of which of the two weeks you chose. If there was a price difference I would have suggested the cheaper, but since they are the same I would definitely say the second week.
The weather will be nice during the days, but make sure you bring a sweatshirt or light jacket for the early mornings and evening hours. And, pack you swimsuits because the pools are heated.
Book your vacation as soon as you have your exact dates. Disney requires payment in full 45 days prior to your check-in date, so the earlier you book the more time you have to make payments. Plus, you want to make sure you get your resort of choice. Disney is currently accepting reservations up to Dec 31, 2009.
This is a link for resorts... http://allears.net/acc/faq_hot.htm ...on the left side of the page under the resort name is a link for a picture slide show. I recommend the Wilderness Lodge because it is gorgeous, but that's just my opinion.

The weather could be anything. I just went for these past holidays and we had 70s and 80s. I heard that we got the best week during the winter and when we left it got a little cooler. I would pack a bunch of jeans and capris because I lived in those. Also, pack a few sweatshirts. The typical shorts, t-shirts, etc. are also good. Layers are always a good thing because the it's usually cool in the morning and night and warmer during the day.
The parks were packed when we went (12/30-1/6). I have a feeling that 12/7-12/13 may not be that bad. I'm not totally sure. Kids are still in school around that time so it might be okay. 11/30-12/6 might still have crowds from Thanksgiving, so it could be a little crowded. I recommend the second week.
Hope this helps!

I actually just went to Disney World (12/13 - 12/18) and none of the parks were real busy. The longest I had to wait in line for a ride was 20 minutes, which I don't consider that long. With the two above choices, both are good weeks to go because both are in Disney's low-crowd season. Also, staying on Disney property is not expensive, especially if you stay in a value resort (prices can be as low or lower than $64/night if you look at the deals Disney comes out with at the end of August/beginning of September). I made my reservations for my last Disney trip this past June with AAA and my preferred room at the All-Stars Movies resort was about $70. I plan on going back again this December and staying again at a value resort because the room was nice, clean, and a good value for the money.
A few weeks ago, the temperature was in the high 70s - lower 80s with no rain, but we did take ponchos in case it would have rained. The weather was perfect and I could not have been happier!

You will be missing the Christmas crowds either week you choose. My guess is the week of 11/30-12/6 would be a little less busy, but generally both of these weeks are low crowds. Good choice!
Weather is generally cool but not cold, and you might even get some hot spells. You will probably need to bring clothes you can layer on and off throughout the day and night.
Don't forget that even though crowds should be low, you will still need reservations for any meals that you have your heart set on.

I was born and raised in Orlando. Around Christmas time is an excellent time to go. The crowds are generally a lot less then in the summer time. The weather is nice around this time. this past year it was like around 75 degrees F for the high, but sometimes it could be around 80. Regardless it will feel a lot better then going in the summer. You picked a good choice to go to Orlando. I'm from there and I love it! Theres so much to do and you can be broke and still enjoy yourself. I didn't realize what a great city it was until I moved away. I'm 20 and I'm moving back this summer to finish school. Well good luck and I hope you have a good time! Also If do not plan on staying in a hotel on Disney property (its very expensive) you can stay down this strip called International drive (Hence the name) a lot of tourist stay there and they have very cheap hotels/motels to stay and they offer bus rides from your hotel to Disney World/ Universal Studios.

First 2 weeks of December are great. Weather is nice & all of Disney is decked out for the holidays. Make sure you make all dinner reservations up to 6 months in advance. You'll see real snow in Disney before you can get in without one. I reccommend eating in the park at more sit down type restaurants. The fast food places are only a little cheaper, but the quality is very different. I always plan our meals around what parks we will be in at the time (or vise-versa).

Either of those weeks are good choices , The closesr you get to christmas the busier it gets. The weather can be hit and miss. I was there 4 christmas' ago and it was cool out we wore shorts with sweat shirts during the day and pants at night. We didn't do any of the water rides or go swimming.

either one is a great time. that is one of the BEST times to go in order to avoid crowds, because it's in between when kids get off (christmas and thanksgiving). not too many people go then! have fun!!
