Is Florida Getting more Credit than it Deserves?

Here was the Florida schedule

Hawaii (7-7) W 56-10

Miami (FL) (7-6) W 26-3

at Tennessee (5-7) W 30-6

Mississippi (9-4) L 31-30

at Arkansas (5-7) W 38-7

LSU (8-5) W 51-21

Kentucky (7-6) W 63-5

Georgia (10-3) W 49-10

at Vanderbilt (7-6) W 42-14

South Carolina (7-6) W 56-6

Citadel (FBS) W 70-19

at Florida State (9-4) W 45-15

Alabama (11-2) W 31-20

So as you can see, Florida played only 4 nine win teams and only 2 ten win teams (as a point of reference, Utah played 2 as well). Oklahoma played 7 nine win teams (Texas, Texas Tech, Oklahoma State, Nebraska, Missouri, TCU, Cincinnatti) and 4 ten win teams (Texas, Texas Tech, TCU, Cincinnatti).

So, does Florida deserve all of the credit they are getting? After comparing the two resumes its clear that Oklahoma had a harder schedule, but does Florida even deserve to be in there over USC?

Update:

I am not a fan of either team I just found it interesting. Also, as another point of reference, USC has played 2 ten win teams as well. I decided to leave out rankings because they are biased arent indicitive of how a team plays. As (I think) Vince Lombardi once said, you are what your record is.

Update 2:

i didnt mean does USC deserve it more in particular. I mean did Florida deserve to be there more than USC, Utah, Texas, Texas Tech (at the time), ect....

The NFL is a waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay different animal than college football. There are 30 teams in the NFL and with parity almost all of them can compete for a playoff spot every year (see dolphins this year and falcons after horrible years last year). That is why record is everything in the NFL.

The same can not be said about college football. To even imply that it should is STUPID. There are over 200 college football teams (and that's if you only include D1 teams). And there is no parity. Pretty much there are some powerhouse schools and some schools that will never compete for a national championship.

Given that, and the fact that the SEC is the toughest conference to get through it isn't a stretch to say that Florida is the most deserving of their spot in the national championship game.

Now Oklahoma deserving it's spot after coming in from the overrated Big 12 and losing to Texas is another story.

There is no denying Florida deserves it over USC. USC's schedule was horrible. The PAC-10 shouldnt' even be considered a major conference after its showing during the regular season going 0-6 vs. the MAC. USC's only quality win the entire season was Ohio St. who every year is falling farther out of the spotlight for its awful performance against out of conference teams. Heck USC played 2 teams that had a combined record of 2-23

USC allowed Penn State to make more points on them in the second half than anyone they faced all season including their loss...the truth will be known tommorrow which team didnt deserve to be there...but i understand your confusion USC always wants to be Co-Champion...and given their influence on the media (them being in hollywood) they always get people to listen to them...plus the rose bowl is a home game for them i wanna see them play in texas or florida or even Louisiana...

You are speaking about the Darlings of the SEC, the Poster Children of the Overrated. Only four of those SEC teams had winning seasons, its all about lobbying, just like Urban Meyer said, if you don't lobby, you are not a good coach. Well he's a great coach because he has lobbied the crap out of that team. What will be said when the Sooners turn the gators in to suitcases.

Your right, they got way too much credit. It should have been the sooners against the Longhorns. The Longhorns have by far the most impressive win of the season by beating the sooners.

SEC is a hard road I would be surprised if florida lost.
