Once you buy the games through the Wii Shop Channel, do you have to be connected to the internet to play the game. Our connection isn't always the best.

No, once the game is downloaded all of the info is on your system and an icon for that game will pop up in the main Wii menu. Just click on it and play.

Once you download the purchased digital titles from the Wii Shop Channel, you'll be able to play the majority of them without requiring internet access to enjoy them. The main reason I say the majority here is that there are a handful of WiiWare titles (like Alien Crush Returns) that attempts to go online when you start the game. When there's no internet connection, it causes unwanted delays as you have to wait for it fail before proceeding to the game. HOWEVER, this is the vast minority of titles. All the DRM keys for your digital titles are stored in your Wii Shop account (which is protected from system reformats, so you can re-download those titles), so they'll run on your Wii. Therefore, what you are asking about IS POSSIBLE & VERY DO-ABLE. So go ahead & enjoy!

No unless there's an online part to the game or it's online only (and most of the Wii shop games are all offline) then you can play it.

no, only unless you play on the internet. Also, if you are going to get many virtual console games I suggest getting homebrew channel. Go to wiibrew.com for more details.
