I’m getting a kitten next week and I’m excited and nervous because it’s my first cat that I’m going to own and first time I’m going to have a pet since moving out of my parents almost 3 years ago. (Parents have 2 dogs for the last 13 years since I was 16) I’m 29 now and want a pet since I get lonely at my apartment. I love dogs but they must be active and I worry that I won’t have time to give it the attention they need. 

I do like cats and from my friends experience they are pretty much independent and require less attention than dogs. Of course I’m going to give it the next attention I can give it. 

Anyways should I wait to name it or start brainstorming now? If so where do I even start I have no idea on names I can choose from 

I just found it it’s going to shut down by next month. I’m kinda bummed, I’ve been on here since I was 14 in high school. I’m now turning 30 this year and this place helped me tons during high school and college. 

It brought me more into discussing politics and video gaming, Harry Potter, Halo, Obama winning the election in 2008, Trump shocking us by becoming president and the pandemic we have been going through the past year. 

Where will you guys go to now? The only place I could think of is reddit. 

Are you guys going to miss it? The site hasn’t been the same and as interesting when I first began to use it vs now it has been feeling kinda dead for a while too. 

So I’m getting a kitten soon in about a week or so and idk what I should name it. 

I have yet to determine which one exactly so I’m not sure about the gender I have only seen them by pictures. (A friend is giving me one) but either way if I can get any suggestions for names that would be helpful 

I’m open to both genders and gender neutral names as well.  

So I got mine last night and I woke up with a sore arm and y body hurting. 

Wasn’t expecting to feel sick because everyone has told me it’s the second dose that sets off your immune response to the vaccine but I’m in bed rn with body aches, nausea and overall I don’t feel well. 

I guess this is a good thing since it means my immune system is doing it’s job. But now I’m expecting the side effects of the second dose to hit me stronger. 

However, I prefer having these symptoms then dealing with Covid. Got it last year and that wasnt fun. 

So I live in student housing and we have our own wifi access. 

We have two, our own wifi for the apartment and we have a guest login.

I bought it and forgot about this due to last year my roommate was having issues connecting his google speaker. 

It’s not the college WiFi, since I live off campus and it’s not their internet I’m using. 

Anyways do you guys think I will have the same problem? 

I can call the internet service provider too 

I have Netflix, HBO Max, Hulu, Paramount plus, Apple TV, Disney Plus, and Amazon Prime...

There’s gotta be something good to watch lol 

I’m into shows like crime, drama, fantasy and syfy...I’m open to whatever tbh 

So I bought a 4K tv and l changed my Netflix package to their 4K content. However will this have everything Netflix has in 4K or just selected shows and movies? And if so how do I know if it’s 4K? Will it tell me before I select the title? Cuz mine just says HD on it. 

Tbh I’m not that impressed. The content is good but it’s also available in other streaming services. A lot of their stuff are available on Netflix, Hulu and HBO Max. 

I signed up to mainly watch the new spongebob movie and the Oprah interview with Harry and Megan. 

Other than that idk if I’m going to stick paying for it. 

I feel like there’s way too many streaming services now lol 

Obviously Mitch McConnell refuses to vote on it. But I’d there anyway hope for this? It could really help a lot of struggling Americans. 

What if Georgia flips blue on Tuesday...will it have a chance once the new administration is sworn in? 

And do you think it will backfire on the republicans who are agains this? 

So it’s my first semester at a 4 year college. After 3 years of taking a break, figuring out what I wanted in life. I decided to go back to school however, Covid happened and it got me nervous about doing everything online and it was difficult at first. I miss being in class physically with other students to talk to. 

Anyways I took 4 classes 3 units each, so 12 units. 

I got 3 Bs and 1 C. The C was unexpected because I had a D all semester long and took the class as credit or no credit so the C isn’t applied to my GPA. One of my courses I was about to get an A but I got a C on the final and kept me at a B. 

Anyways should I feel bad that I wasn’t able to get an A this semester? I’m bummed because I actually thought I was. 

Idk why I just feel like I could have done better even tho given the circumstances this method of learning isn’t for everyone. Even as a tech savvy millennial, I prefer in class lectures than online. I just learn better that way. 

So my iPad Air 2 is dying and can’t even update to the current iPad OS. So I decided to buy another one and also get the Apple Pencil. 

However, idk which one. I know for sure I’m not getting the pro models since I mainly want to use this as a second monitor to my MacBook when doing hw, exams and the main reason I would use it is to take notes during my lectures. 

Any suggestions? 

So I have an 87% in the class. And I’m waiting for him to add participation points which is worth 10 points...will this be enough to get me to a 90%? Lol

Ok so California is going on lockdown tonight, I haven’t been to the gym since February and even cancelled my membership obviously does to the pandemic. Even tho I haven’t gone to the gym or workout much I have lost weight due to stress and a health scare i had back in May (everything came out fine) ever since May tho I haven’t gained that much weight however I did go back to school this fall and I tend to stress eat and I feel if I don’t start working out I will most likely gain the weight again. 

The only workout I have done is go jogging but tbh Im getting bored of the routine and with the weather getting colder and the days getting darker earlier I feel unmotivated to go outside.

I was thinking about doing at home workouts something that will help me burn fat. 

Can anyone recommend  anything? 

it extends unemployment benefits and i believe the extra benefits will be $300 weekly...however, there is no stimulus checks like last time and it's the main reason democrats oppose it. 

Imo $900 Billion is pathetic considering that both congress and the senate haven't been able to pass any stimulus packages in more than 6 months...yet they easily passed billions of dollars in military spending and continued to bail out the rich. That's my issue in all this because it's not just one party, it's both! 

Republicans are saying that they won't support anything over 1 trillion and I'm just in shock that they are putting a price tag on helping the poor but they don't do this when they keep bailing out corporations and wall street...

It's frustrating, and coming from the richest and most prosperous country in the world is sad. While countries like Canada focused on helping suffering Canadians, the US instead turns a blind eye. 

If I pay taxes, then I expect that money to be used towards situations like these and not overspending it on war or bailing out the rich 

Assuming it’s a carne asada burrito with beans, rice, sour cream and salsa. 

And I’m not talking about chipotle but from taco trucks/food trucks 

So im keeping it small this year. I am doing Friendsgiving but it will be about 8 of us and we have tested negative for covid. (I caught it last month). Recently got tested and waiting on my results. However, I'm also getting tested again to be sure about next weekend when I go to my parent's house. it will be just 5 of us this year. 

It's weird because I usually do big thanksgiving dinners with my relatives since I have a big family but obviously, we arent doing that this year.

Anyways what are your plans for thanksgiving? 

So I'm struggling in one of my classes and the professor barely has graded the midterm exam that I turned in a month ago and he messaged me saying that I was going to get a zero on the first question of the essay because I defined what social construction was....

this is the opening of the paragraph in which he gave me a zero and accused me of plagiarism:

Social Construction is defined as an idea that has been created and accepted by the people in a society. This applies to sexuality because for some, sexuality is seen as a choice and this kind of view affects social construct by feeding into the social norms set by society rather than stepping away from it entirely. 

he highlighted the first sentence... and said I plagiarized it....

he said "in the first question the definition of a social construct is plagiarized. This question (not the whole exam) will receive a zero. 

I want him to sit down with actual scientists and draw up a plan to get back on track in controlling this pandemic and pass another stimulus bill that people desperately need. 

So im applying for financial aid for my senior year (transfer student) in college and ive been unemployed since august of this year to focus on school since I want to graduate on time and I'll be taking 18 units per semester. I know for some they can juggle both a job and a full time student but I however, cant and I want to graduate on time and if everything goes smoothly I can graduate early and begin to work in my field. In other words, im trying to get this done asap! 

Last year I made about $30,000 and im worried this will get in the way of receiving enough financial aid. This past year I only got $900 for the year and I had to pay the rest with loans. Im hoping I can get more this year since im unemployed but idk if I am...I just applied for next year and my EFC is 06614

is that a high number or meaning that I won't receive a lot of aid next year either? 

I don't want to pull out anymore student loans...I had to pull out 20k to cover for the nest two years because I didn't get enough for this year so I had to prepare myself but im hoping I won't be using all the 20k by the time I graduate in 2022. 

So im new to Macs, ive been using one for 2 months and use it for school purposes. Before I would use chrome when using Windows, on my phone I use safari and on my iPad. Now on my MacBook I use safari as well but I was just curious if anyone use chrome on their Macs and why?

both seem to be fast and never had any problems with safari.
