Do you need a Wii or PS2 to play guitar hero?

Our 6 yr old son got a guitar game that plugs into the TV and he is quite good at it. We were thinking about getting him a basic guitar hero for his birthday in a few months. But we don't own a Wii or PS2. Is there a version that you can plug into the tv?

The official Guitar Hero games require a console to play them, and they only work on certain consoles. You will need either a PS2, PS3, Xbox, Xbox 360 or Wii.

There are cheap imitations that plug into the TV that aren't worth having. One of the ones I know of is Guitar Fever.

There is no version that plugs into the TV.

    You need either:

    A Wii

    A PS3

    A PS2

    An Xbox 360

And..there are some really bad ports to the Nintendo DS.
