What's the best way to get a record deal?

Continue to promote her music as much as possible. Play as many shows as she can as well. If she is good word will spread and the right people will hear about it and come check her out. Demos are a music have so it's good she is working on her own music.

Be good and play in public a lot. The best and highest profile gigs she can get. Get a promo pack, including a nice copy of probably the 4 best songs from the album (be sure to put the most single-ish song first). Shop demos/promo pack to reputable agencies and record labels that take unsolicited material (according to a friend of mine Music Connection Magazine just published a list of labels like that). Try selling the album on her own at first (now you can do that stuff via iTunes and what have you. Basically she should do everything in her power to have as many people as is humanly possible to hear her music, particularly people who are in the industry and can help her.

based on who is popular and have record deals nowadays, the best course of action to a successful career is to not have any talent whatsoever, start doing lots of drugs, go to rehab, give out lots BJ's and be on a reality tv show. a dysfunctional family is an added bonus too.

major label deal- sell out. Get on Ameriqueer Idol and make millions of $$$ with forgettable lame *** songs!
