Help, I can't sing low notes!?
I'm a soprano - as in "I could have danced all night" is my favorite song to sing. But I've noticed that I can't sing certain low notes like the one from "I dreamed a dream" when Fantine sings when the tigers come at NIGHT. I've been working for a while and can't seem to get that last note. I can't hit the other where she sings "APART". It kind of sounds REALLY breathy. I can hit all the other ones just fine, though.
Is this normal? Can I extend my range? Any tips? I don't have a vocal coach and I don't think I'll be able to get one soon. I mostly practice singing songs that I know.
NOTE: Around 3 years ago, I could barely sing middle sing loud enough for people to hear me, but after I got sick, I was able to!
Also, does anyone know how to give people points for good answers? I started today. Thanks so much!!!

It's perfectly normal to have notes that you can't sing, and you can certainly work on it. The best thing I can recommend is to practice singing scales. The more you practice singing scales, the bigger your range will get and you'll be able to hit those lower notes.
As for Fantine's song, might I recommend you sing it in a different key? I'm sure that will help you, and that way you'll even be able to perform it for others. If not, it's also possible for you to either speak-sing the notes or for you to barely hit them and not have to hold them. Or you could even sing them an octave higher. I know I've had to sing that song before and the more I practiced, the better I got. :)
I bet you can do it so long as you practice. Just work really hard and I'm sure you'll get to be able to hit those low notes! :D

A is a breathy vowel. try to sing the passage on the vowel o. for example " as the tigers oh oh oh..." etc. same on apart. make sure your posture is correct for proper air flow and get a big breath.

it is natural if you can't sing low. Some people have voices that are designed for high notes
