How to use the word "androgynous" in my essay?
the term androgynous means : "having male and female traits"
Basically, a woman in the novel i am studying is wearing a large black cape, that she looks very shapeless, almost like a spirit of some kind. i want to say that you cant determine her gender because of this. But i am unsure of how to put that word into my sentence:
Sarah’s clothing is so shapeless it is difficult to differ her gender, creating an androgynous effect
Can someone re-word this sentence for me please, thanks!

Sarah`s clothing is so shapeless, so as to make her gender completely ambiguous.

Sarah's clothing is androgynous as it is black and shapeless, making it neither masculine or feminine.
