Interviewing for Operations Manager, Now what?

I have an opportunity to interview for an Operations Manager, I know with my degree near completion and the skills I acquired at my last job I can perform the tasks asked of me. It's the interview that haunts me. Any suggestions for hitting a home-run at the interview?

    1. Research the company you are interviewing with. Know all aspects of the company well; their organization, their products or services, their goals, their strategy, their geography, etc.

    2. Be prepared to talk about your degree and your work experience and exactly HOW they have prepared you for this position. Have several SPECIFIC examples of projects or studies you have completed that demonstrate your preparation. Choose projects that can also demonstrate your ability to work well with others.

    3. Be prepared to talk about your career objectives, both short and long term.

    4. Bring a copy of some of your written work to demonstrate your ability to communicate effectively in writing.

    5. When you answer questions, be direct and be concise. Don't go off on tangents.

    6. Be prepared with a list of thoughtful questions of your own. They could be questions that you couldn't find the answers to from advance research such as questions about the corporate culture, decision making processes, etc.

    7. DON'T ask about salary, benefits, etc. until you have an offer in hand.

    8. Have a friend or relative who is familiar with this kind of work conduct a practice interview with you in advance. Have them give you an honest critique of your performance.

I hope this is helpful to you. Good luck on your interview! Let me know how it goes!
