Looking for new TV shows?

OK, so I'm looking for a new show to get into. I watch (or have watched) and enjoy, in more or less chronological order:

-Doctor Who

-Star Trek: TOS

-Twin Peaks

-The X-Files

-Stargate SG-1

-Buffy

-Angel

-Stargate Atlantis

-Firefly

-Bones

-Heroes

-Torchwood

-Primeval

-Fringe

I don't like:

-Girly shows - Sex and the City, Gossip Girl, etc

-'Adult' cartoons - Family Guy, South Park, etc

-Reality TV or game shows

-Soaps

-Shows I should love but for some reason annoy me: All CSI shows, Battlestar Galactica, 24...

Update:

Thanks for all the suggestions so far! I do actually watch Sanctuary, Smallville, and Criminal Minds (somehow, I wound up watching lots of TV during the writers strike last year then over break), and then Supernatural when I'm in the right mood. Although, I gave up on Lost sometime last season when the plot just became too complex and too unbelievable for me to handle...

I'll have to check out the rest of the shows, though.

Update 2:

Although, I don't like Legend of the Seeker that much... I might if I hadn't read the books first and wasn't aware of how badly the screenwriters were slaughtering the original plot and characters and everything in an attempt to make it 'family-friendly'.

You should start watching Lost! It is freaking amazing. It is literally the best show on TV right now. That's my number one suggestion you! :) I love, love, love it!

    I also like:

    Criminal Minds

    - Love it. It's got a good cast and it is really "suspenseful" kind of. I can never miss an episode. It comes on Wednesdays on CBS at 9pm.

    Without a Trace

    - This def. has to best my top "crime" show. The cases are awesome. And if you watch it from the very beginning it is hard to stop. It comes on Tuesdays at 10pm on CBS.

    Flashpoint

    - It's kind of new but the first episode of season 2 premieres tonight at 9pm on CBS. It's very good and clever. :)

    Kyle XY

    - The new season premieres on ABC Family next Monday. This show is vey good. It keeps me wanting to know what happens. It's never dull or anything. I like it a lot.

You should check some of these out.

I'm a huge Doctor Who fan and I've watched The X-Files, Buffy, Angel and Torchwood too. I absolutely LOVE Supernatural and maybe you might like it too. It's about two brothers who basically travel across America in a fab 1967 Chevy Impala and hunt demons, evil spirits and creatures of myth and folklore. It sounds a bit cheesy but it really works! I watched the pilot episode when it first aired in 2005 and I was hooked immediately.

Here's the summary from tv.com which explains it a lot better than I can:

Supernatural stars Jensen Ackles and Jared Padalecki as Dean and Sam Winchester, two brothers who travel the country looking for their missing father and battling evil spirits along the way.

Sam Winchester is a college student bound for law school, determined to escape his family's past - unlike his older brother, Dean. Ever since they were little their father has been consumed with an obsession to find the evil forces that murdered his beloved wife, in result recruiting and training his two young sons to help him in revenge. They have grown up as hunters of the supernatural. Sam escaped under the premise of going to college, and now has a happy life with his girlfriend, Jessica, and a promising future career. Dean, however, stayed behind with his father to join him in his "hunting".

Dean goes to Sam for help when their father goes missing. Now Sam must join his brother to find him. His one weekend trip to search for the missing John Winchester becomes an ongoing quest after a horrible tragedy ruins any thought of a happy life for Sam.

The two brothers, bound by tragedy and blood to their mission, travel across the country encountering terrifying and dangerous forces most believe to be nothing but superstition and folklore, such as the Lady in White, the Indian beast known as the Wendigo, Phantom Travelers who cause plane crashes, Bloody Mary, vampires, demons and many more.

That's pretty much the background to the pilot episode but you can get more information about it here:

It's a really fantastic show and I absolutely recommend it - it's brilliant!!

I like Sanctuary on the Sci-Fi channel, and I like the quirkiness of Life, a detective show with great music and a different sensibility. I like Legend of the Seeker a syndicated show, on oh I don't know, WGN I think. Life on Mars has potential, and I love Damages on FX. If you have HBO True Blood is Fantastic, and Dexter is great on Showtime.

    Hope this helps!
