Conservatives would never agree because he is the wrong color.

No I don't ! I despise the way this Kenyan is de-Americanizing the US government. I believe him to be an evil man without a clue on how to be president, or how to resolve the problems that keep growing and growing.

The latest unemployment numbers are already in the danger zone at 7.2%. How long before a complete collapse and all I see coming from him is the distraction of Roland Burris, and his attempt to persuade Congress to give Burris his Senatorial seat.

I must believe the distraction is from the black caucus blowing in his ear about losing the seat if he doesn't act. It seems the blacks don't like to give up anything and will stomp on the Constitution if necessary, to see they don't lose any ground.

He's a qualified neurosurgeon but there are probably even better qualified people around although none as well known because of his CNN time.

well, in favour, I would say that the Surgeon General is largely a figurehead anyway, so why not hire a media personality to fill the job?

But against it, I would say that Gupta doesn't actually spend that much time practicing medicine, so what can he possibly contribute?

Personally, I think that Doctors should be trusted, but I don't think Micheal Moore would be happy with Obama about this selection, to tell you the truth.

I'm just hoping he doesn't push the Joycelyn Elders idea of teaching masturbation technique in public school. I mean, is that really something that needs to be taught to anyone with an IQ above 70?

I know I'm leaving myself wide open to be personally attacked on this one but I just couldn't resist...

When did I say that's why she was fired?

you know from watching house call on CNN almost every saturday morning, i must say the guy does know his stuff

he is also a neurosurgeon and has worked in the clinton white house.

so i do think he is qualified in terms of knowing medical procedures or whatever

maybe people don't like him be/c he is also like a tv personality? which means he likes to be in the spotlight

The only problem I have with him, is that he will not recognize even the medical value of cannabis. Otherwise, he certainly has the qualifications.

    No, he's a terrible pick.

There are so many more picks that would be far better and more effective.

Sorry to say but Obama is picking way too many Clintonites.

And, I support Obama overall. I voted for him.
