Obama's Autism on insurance bill?
I heard on the news last night that Obama was planning on passing a bill so that all insurances federally have to pay for Autism treatment. I didn't vote for him, but this seems like the best idea that has come out of his mouth. What do you think?

I can't imagine why it would be limited to autism, although perhaps there has been some problem for autism in particular to be covered. I'm all in favor of insurance companies having to cover the best possible treatment, but not just any treatment, for every medical condition out there.

It's a bad idea.
This is what is called a regressive tax. It forces a business to pay for something that would be too much for the taxpayers to foot the bill for.
There are no proven autism treatments or cures. Lately, even ABA (applied behavioral analysis) is increasingly proven to be ineffective.
Forcing the insurance companies to pay for unproven treatments will mean that premiums will go up for all non-autistic individuals and autistics will be getting nothing for their money.
The one GOOD thing coming out of this is that insurance companies will fund studies which will definitively prove certain therapies as being ineffective, which will put the majority of the quack doctors out of work.

I think that's great. I agree with the answerer above me, I think insurance companies should pay not just 1 but all the illnesses in the country. That's what we pay for insurance. I voted for him and Im excited about some of the idea's and vision for our country. Its going to take a long time to get the country out of this holes we are in. Im 40 and I doubt I will see it get cured all the way. Sorry for rambling. Have a great weekend.

Oh....that would be amazing!!
Absolutely amazing. I'm broke poor most of the time with medical expenses out of pocket.
I knew there was a reason I voted for him :)

i think that states should have to pay for anything mentally/physically wrong with people especially children.
