How to get my digital hdtv to work w/o cable?

I just bought a sharp hdtv digital tv for my bedroom . My bedroom has no cable and Im not planning on getting cable because that is just a extra bill. How can I get the tv to work since no more "rabbit ears" will be use? The converter box is for tvs that are not digital so what do i do? btw I have cable in my living room.

I really have no idea what you mean by "How can I get the tv to work since no more "rabbit ears" will be use? The converter box is for tvs that are not digital so what do i do?"

You do not need a converter box because you just bought a new TV with a digital tuner. If you are close enough (maybe 35 miles will not hills in between) to some over the air broadcast stations, you certainly can use rabbit ears, regular or amplified if you are concerned your signal may be weak. The only other option (since you do not want a cable or satellite bill) is a more powerful outdoors antenna.

If you want a more accurate antenna estimate or if you just want to find out how far you are from some station, you can use this tool.
