WAYS TO EXPLAIN PREGNANCY AND THE BIRTH OF A NEW BABY TO A 3 YEAR OLD?
My 3 year old brother thinks I stole his ball and that I am hiding his ball under my shirt for months...yesterday he was jumping on my bed as usual while I am laying down and for the first time he jumped down on to my stomach with great force on his elbows and knees. It hurt so badly and I was so afraid but the baby still moves alot so guessing he's ok. I can't get mad at my brother because he's only 3. what can I do to help myself and my mother explain to him what is going on?

I think it is ok to tell him you are having a baby, you don't have to tell him how though.

well my son will be 4 in a few weeks and daughter is 2-1/2 and they dont comprehend what pregnancy means so i just tell them that mommyhas a baby in her belly it is really small and theyask ???'s can the baby come out now and i tell them whenthe baby gets this big (i use a baby doll ) and mommys belly sticks out really far then baby will be here, i also have a pregnancy book that love to look at, so we look at the different pictures of baby stages and they seem to understand at the time, but then it is oh, yougot a baby in your belly.so just do the best you can to explain on there level.

Show him your belly so he will see that it's not his ball under your shirt. Try to explain to him, in kid terms, that you're growing a baby for him to be friends with. Does he know any babies you could use as a comparison?

you need to be more careful, if your laying down and he's jumping around theres risk of him hitting your stomach! its not a good idea.
as for explaining, you could show him your belly, simply tell him theres a baby inside growing. tell him you and him grew in your moms belly. tell him he needs to be careful too, say the baby is sleeping.
